Ok, the next challenge is a month away. I'm feeling mischievous and I'm looking for some projects. I suppose most people are working on badges etc. Any ideas for a short team project?
1) Empty the Low port
2) Jump on the 5oB double check for a day
3) Track down Juan L. Varona. He is from the Rioja region of Spain. They produce outstanding wine and we empty his wine cellar. I think the guy has written a bot that gives him 1000's of 'likes' a day.
4) Playfully antagonize some cows.
5) Make a charge on some prpnet port.
Any thoughts? |

I'm open to all ideas as well right now.
I'm just focusing on furthering CW Sieve right now, and also working on pushing TRP LLR to gold. thats about it though. I could easily switch gears to anything else.

Woodall clean-up is tedious, so I don't recommend that. I get a 50/50 mix of recycled challenge units (OK) and fresh work. The good news is that I'm about halfway to WOO Gold.
It looks like there is a mild assault on our 2nd-place standing on the FPS port. We'll be overtaken in a week or so if we stand still. We are more than 400 WUs out of first place there, so that could take a while.
5oB units are granting about 68K PRPnet credit but take a couple of days to run.
I suggest we invite Mr. Varona to join AtP. He's on no team, and seems to run nothing other than 17oB tasks with a ruby badge to show for it. Sounds like a renegade. Alguien habla español?

Gary, hopefully you went ahead and invited Mr V. I'm ready and willing for anything. I can't really help much on prpnet anymore since I'm stuck with what I left running (even had to watch as the low port was empty and I couldn't make any changes). But like C, I'm kinda ready to have some more fun smack talking :) |

Sounds like a small party going on.
Me I am all for either
1) Having a go at FPS, small credit but I like us to be in first
2) having a run at GFN 32768 prpnet, I think we can get 1st in a short while. each WU runs about 30 mins on my system.
3) Trying to get Mr V off the profile page
4) Having fun, so I will attack any port we go for.
Go AtP
PS Rick, sorry ot hear that you cant access those systems anymore, does your new job allow you to use their comps?

I can only use the laptop they gave me. I can still get the old systems to run different primegrid ports but not prpnet because that's manual. Very soon I will be down to my work laptop, a home laptop and the system running my gpu.. sad, sad and more sad. lol |

I'm going over to FPS as my SGS wu's finish. At least for now. I think we're ok on SGS for a bit. Haven't run any FPS in a while. Don't even remember run times for those wu's.

I wrote a message to John, asking him if the participant profile for the day is indeed based on the number of likes or if it the function is disabled. If it is active, we may need to write a better bot.
I won't sleep until I see Ian as the profile of the day! :)
To Gary's question, I'm fluent in Castillian Spanish, and I'm writing Dr. Varona to make his acquaintance. I'll invite him to join AtP if everyone is ok with that.

Well,
I would like to do a custom sieving effort on any K, (for example, 11111111), but with the N from 15M to 16M using tpsieve.
Then run a manual llr effort......
The Dawgz should know what I'm talking about .... We have several powerful GPU's on the team...
Anywh00t. In lieu of the above, we could charge the SR5 port.... A prime is due anytime now... I can feel it.

I'm game. Seems like we have FPS and SR5 as options. With FPS we're defending our position but we're dealing with longer wu's a low work/credit ratio. And SR5 where Neo is guaranteeing us a prime!
I'm up for either. Any preferences? We could just make this a few day party.... |

Maybe we could do a challenge with the Cows one day to see which team can come up with the most primes on the low port. 24 hours. Bragging rights..... |

Why just restrict it to the Cows? Why don't we fire off a general challenge?

Well -- huey did that -- basically told everyone to leave the beer & women and p#ss off!
Yeah if you decide to do somthing as a team let us know ---
I was surfing the net today and found out how you can get 8+ gpu's crunching

TheDawgz are just nappin' in the sun on the porch while we wait for ruby in PPS_LLR.
With only a single system in our farm it leaves lots of time for nappin'.
TheDawgz love nappin'!!
Even with time out for The Leonids Challenge, Sandy-Paws should be bringing it for Christmas - TheDawgz have been VERY good this year (relatively speaking, of course).
... we digress ...
TheDawgz could be provoked into doing something CPU-based just for fun.
Unfortunately, we can't do any of the GFN work on PRPNet as it literally makes our old GTX275 squeal most annoyingly! The larger the number worked the higher the frequency of the squeal.
No matter - TheDawgz are a member of the Horde and - wherefore goest the Horde; goest TheDawgz!
With a bark with a woof,
With a squeak onward,
All in the valley of Cow
Raced the Rattus Horde:
"Forward, you Rattus bold!
Charge for the udders" he said:
Into the valley of Cow
Raced the Rattus Horde.
'Forward, you Rattus bold!'
Was there a rat dismay'd ?
Not tho' the horde knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
Into the valley of Cow
Raced the Rattus Horde.
Cow pie to right of them,
Cow pie to left of them,
Cow pie in front of them
Splat'd & thunder'd;
Storm'd at with milk and pie,
Boldly they raced and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Raced the Rattus Horde.
With apologies to Alfred, Lord Tennyson
TheDawgz might clean and finish that up for when the final standing are posted in The Equinox Challenge.

Although I'm still convinced there is a TRP prime just around the corner... :-) ...and i'm not giving up until i find it!

Mark,
I feel the same thing. I think TRP is really overdue, along with SR5.
Right now I'm running a mix of SGS and Proth; I got a hit on SGS this morning (thanks Rick for letting me have a SGS prime ;)

DoEs,
I'm still working on getting a second GPU, or a replacement for my GT430.

Know the feeling -- my bank ac is still in meltdown from that holiday I took in September--- so much to do & so little funds --
I had to choose -- either a 2nd gpu or new MB fo the i7 920 -- went for the i7 MB

John said he'd support an informal PRPNet challenge if we want to make one. Doesn't have to be the low port.
Let me know what you think.

If the informal challenge is to be posed as "most primes found" in a certain (presumably short) amount of time, then it should probably be the Low port or maybe SGS just so we don't all wind up at zero.
If it's PRPnet points that will decide, then we should suggest a port where we can move up in the standings..maybe SR5 or ESP? I see a certain team from the Netherlands right in front of us (although at a distance) on the latter. Or maybe Primorial (PRS). Some of those I've never run so I have no idea how long the WUs take; it wouldn't do to have a short (e.g. two-day) challenge on a port where the units take more than a few hours.
Whatever, I'll join the charge. Go AtP!

Whatever challenge we do will have to be at least 2 days to be fair. The reason is that we won't know when returned units were downloaded. Low port ones expire after 24 hours so units downloaded after 0000 D-1 would count in the stats for D.
Rick is not far from gettng to the top of the low port score board. He also joined AtP on 20 Nov so I suggest we go for a challenge to who can
1) score the most low port points
2) find the most low port primes and
3) find the most GFN divisors
on 20 Nov.
It is in the middle of the next Prime Grid challenge but that is a GPU one so it won't be a problem.

Yes you are right so not 20 Nov. 23 Dec is AtP's birthday (the team not the rodent).
