7 day challenge starting on Sept. 1st (GMT) on the 121 port. Not sure how much I'll be able to contribute, but I'll drop in when I can.

--Gary

Just got back from an extended stay in Asia. What I thought was a week trip unexpectedly turned into a number of weeks. Playing catch-up now, but should be back to PG activity soon.

Hope everyone is well.

Just read this on the "Project Staging Area : Port PPSElow:12000" thread on the main boards:
Looks like the port will run dry within a couple of days.
...

I'm partying on the Low port for the rest of the weekend.

Sounds good...always enjoy emptying ports.

Thanks Dr. Rick. We've got a truly eclectic mix of characters here. "Loons"? Count me in.

Go AtP....

Nice work on the FPS challenge. I was sure the Russians were going to catch us, but we posted some last minute wu's that kept us ahead.

Go AtP!

Diplomatically put I thought!

390 rats would have sat quietly reading Dostoevsky and sipping martinis.

This is clear evidence that rats are higher on the evolutionary scale. We take up less space, are more efficient and do not contribute to global warming.

But most importantly, where the hell do you come up with this stuff Tim?!

what does this mean?

In your prpclient.ini file, you have some combination of "stop options" that are conflicting. You could set all the stop options to "0" for now and simply be presented with a choice of what you want to do when you shut down each wu instance.

Also, composites are common on FPS from my experience.

FPS appears to be running in 3:40 - 3:50. HT off at 4.1GHz on the SB box. I think I can crank the clock up a bit as this is running a full 10 degrees (C) cooler than running LLR. Anyone else notice that?

Hmmm. Additional resources are required. I'll put the IB i7 on this this evening (not that it will make much of a difference).

Yes cooler. I"m running 4.4GHz, cores between 49-53C. Ambient 18C.

I got one the first day here!!!!

It is remarkable how lucky people have often been on joining the Horde. I must leave and rejoin.

Brink hit another near WFS today too! Such distinguished crunching....

Oh piffle. I'm usually on top of stuff like this, but between being away for a bit and lack of attention, this prpnet challenge completely escaped me. Ah well. The SB i7 is now on this 100%, 18 hours late.

HT is off. With any compute-bound program, LLR or not, I think HT on vs. off does not matter in terms of total throughput, at least very much. To really test that you'd have to run the exact same set of tests each way, which is easy enough with the LLR and PFGW64 executables in the prpclient installation, but it is rather tedious. For challenges, I go "HT off" so as to reduce the quantity of work in progress when the deadline hits.

Let us know what run times you have.

I'm really curious how it compares on your new machine against my i7-3930k. probably fairly similar. Right now it looks like i'm getting around 3 1/2 hours, to 3 hrs 45 min.

I'm a little mad, looks like my internet went out all night long so i lost the opportunity to do an extra 12 WUs or so...but oh well. I'll make it up soon enough.

I finished 8 wu's last night with HT on. It took 10 hours. If I'm not mistaken I was taking about 4 hours per wu with HT off. I'm going to finish the next 8 then will turn HT off again.
