My Goodness .... The horse is dead already - please, please stop beating it.

Indeed it is and buried I hope alone with the rider.

You seem to want sympathy? someone could be living in 34 degree weather (93F) in a one bedroom apartment and spend $0.27 USD on cloud computing to participate and top 300 this event. OR you could go on a used seller buy a used computer for $60 and spent $0.09 cents a day (local kwh pricing which is way lower then anyone in Europe) to heat their tiny area. That way you didn't "buy" your win? You're correct, we should enforce gatekeeping! Also kick Syracuse university out at the same time. They aren't even a "person".

I could give a crap about sympathy, and sympathy has no place here.

Your $0,26 USD for 1 Minute maybe but not for 24 Hours.
At lest that is what I found when looking into Cloud Computing for BOINC and there are extra charges for DC with some companies.
I see 1000 to 2000 Hosts per user in use for events so you point is a joke.

BOINC started with the Home and now it will end with the Cloud and that is ALL.
But for me I am not spending anymore money on new hardware nor invest my time and efferent any longer.
So with so many now have their Computers hidden (Show us Yours) it is hard to say what is in use.
Just One of my hosts running GPU and CPU run at about 800-1000 Watts.
I had fun while it lasted when it was still in the Home.
If someone runs Cloud 7x24x360 then it would be fine, but to only run Cloud for Events is crap.
All I said to start with is the Cloud is now taking over PG and BOINC that is all.
My thoughts only not my team members, we are a team but we are also each our own.

Wow!
My two primes so far are the same number of digits how odd.
7779439418187*2^1290000-1 (388342 digits)
7825167726087*2^1290000-1 (388342 digits)

Should it be renamed, even if unofficially, Tour de Megas, for 2024 and beyond? :)

Good One!

Surely it should be called the Skyscraper Stage not the Mountain Stage :D.

Or the Cloud Stage :)

By next year it is possible that GFN16 will not be in T5K making all eligible primes for TdP mega primes by current rules.
A suggestion, if I may... Change the rules for next TdP so that any fast DC prime finding app is eligible. Currently that would let next TdP include GFN16 and PPSE. If fast DC makes it to GFN15 and SGS then I would be okay with including those too. Of course this would present issues with server load, storage soace, etc. So that would definitely be a consideration against my suggestion

I would think it is time for Mega and above for next year.

Really sucks that my host running GFN-18 is only running Proof tasks.
It seems that most all my host are running 90% Proof tasks.

For GFN-18, a proof task takes 1/64 of the time a main task takes.

Suppose you have 90% proof tasks and 10% main tasks. Then you still use only 12.3% of your time on proof tasks, and 87.7% of your time on main tasks. Much better than in the old days where you could easily risk using more than 12.3% on tasks where you lost the race and became 2nd.

/JeppeSN

Have 98% proof tasks and 2% main tasks. At least that is what it seems like.
tng seems to ATM has the Largest Prime.
