I'm now getting proper CPU-only wu's, with GPU warnings soon after startup.

Thanks!

For the past few days, I have been receiving messages saying that since I haven't the proper graphics card, that no GPU work units can be sent.

Only problem is, I wasn't aware that my client was asking for them.

I'm using the BOINC manager, so the only preferences I can set are through a webpage here, and not the command line. Suspending the GPU work while computer is in use under Computing Preferences doesn't seem to have any effect, and neither does selecting no for Use NVIDIA GPU if present. I still get the error message.

What's interesting is that I'm finishing a whole batch of CPU-only work units that downloaded just fine a few days ago without warnings. If there weren't any GPU wu's, it switched to getting CPU wu's. Not anymore, though.

According to my stats, I have found 5 of 20, 2 of 21, and 1 of 22. Since no big announcement was made on the pages and forums of PG, I can only assume these values were previously discovered.

So what can an AP26 "used for"?

I could care less. The thought of being famous for discovering something new is reward enough in this particular research -- plus, it doesn't take too long to achieve a solution on my system: a fairly large number of WU's can be handled in the time it takes for a 321 or a Cullen to be.

With my new 2.8ghz C2D running 32-bit Vista, I'm getting 28-minute times, on the average, for each WU. As the machine is on nearly 24/7, taking what appears to be twice as long to calculate as those with 64-bit systems doesn't bother me.

When you stated that "... 32 bit has such a huge disadvantage in processing time that we are reviewing whether it will be implemented." were you concerned for legacy systems still using 32-bit, or 32-bit systems in general?

Blast, uploading with stuff worked on before the contest at the very moment it starts isn't counted.

WU's have to be downloaded during the contest to count.

I have a different problem. Though my cache is set to 0.1 days, I discovered this morning that stuff finished at 'round 8gmt still wasn't sent by 8cst (Midwest USA). It had been sitting there for six hours not sending anything (and, consequently, not receiving anything to crunch).

Any solution to this?

Starting (accidentally) three hours late, I've got a flood of Prothies to play with.

I still have WU's that didn't clear out from about 24 hours ago, so at least there's some Prothies being crunched -- as is probably the case with many of you.

And if you notice the main page, PP sieve work is still available.

Been doing ABC@Home all this time for the "big push" to finish the project, but I'll take a break from that -- the thought of being famous with a prime-o'-my-own is too good to pass up!
