This is exciting news, especially that multithreading is now possible. Looking forward to it going live, the last discovery for primorial + 1 has been 21 years ago...
Btw, there was quite some outside-Primegrid work on Factorials in the last year. Will PG doublecheck those ranges?

Unfortunately, it seems that Prof Caldwell is retiring from maintaining the Prime Pages.
Does anyone here know anything about someone possibly taking over? At mersenneforum no one seems to know any details. It'd be sad if it would just go.
edit: the message is gone now from the website. Maybe they found someone.

Since I'm looking for the most "bang for the buck", where is that hosted? And what CPU is that?
I'm currently with an i9-10920 for 75 € / month at active-servers. Is it the GPU that makes the cloud server so expensive or the CPU?

Update 07-02-2022
Tests upper bound: 10.5e18 / 18e18 (57 %, +0 %)
Number of near-WW found: 313 (+-0)
Distribution:
|A|<= | Actual | Expected | Deviation
-------|--------|----------|-----------
1000 | 313 | - | -
100 | 35 | 31 | +13 %
10 | 2 | 3 | -33 %
0 | 0 | 0 | 0 %
Based on the current number of near-WW
found, the probability for a WW prime is:
16 % (+-0%).
At 18e18 we would reach:
27 % (-0 %)
100 % would be reached at:
67e18 (+0e18)
Last week average numbers tested per day:
8.6E15 (-7.4E15)
ETA project completion (based on last week only):

No new near-hit. High GPU prices are hurting innocent DC-project! The humanity!

As Michael already asked, what specifically is the damage they cause to the project? The only thing is a small additional load on the BOINC server.
I can see how it's irksome, but it doesn't slow down progression at all. Btw, if you want to get annoyed have a look at the oldest unfinished SoB WU, it's from last summer and it seems another user that doesn't finish tasks picked it up. ;)

Yes, it's only the ETA based on last week's numbers. I clarified that in the stats.

New Factorial prime

I'm not sure if it's in some way "unfair" or not. One thing would be that his negative results aren't published whereas PRPnet's are. But unless he has serious computational power the few negatives he produces wouldn't have helped PRPnet that much.
If he works fully independent, I'd have no problem, after all nobody owns Factorials, but if he uses PRPnet to some extent - and him being that close to the edge make it seem like it - that would be like poaching. Does anyone know if he's involved somewhere like Mersenneforum?
