Any opinions on whether team forums should or should not be fully private? Currently, they're readable by all but only members can post. Supposedly there's a server setting that sets them to be fully private.

Wow that's a hard call to make. I know our forum is read and in most cases it has turned out to be fun for those involved ie challenges.
From what I read we don't really post things that can't be read and if needed we do hide some of the threads (even though it's a real pain to post to them).
I vote we leave it as is. HOWEVER I am only 1 vote. If anyone has an opinion please make sure to share it.
Cheers Rick
edit: I did just think of something. Due to your very cool flagging of new posts in forums showing up, now it's very obvious when we post here. Whether other users read I have no idea but at least it's now a flag waving in the breeze. |

This forum does NOT show up in the forum list of non-members. You don't see any of the other team forums, right?

I don't see other team forums no and I always wondered if we had the only one. Guess not and guess it's time to go snooping :) |

I don't think any other teams are nearly this active.. And if so, I'm external forum sites, rather than here. Like Sicituradastra, their PG forum as a few very old forum threads, but there are references to an external forum site. http://www.primegrid.com/forum_forum.php?id=58
Anyways, nothing here that I personally care if other teams read, and those are easily hidden anyways ;)
Also, I believe this is my 1000th post..

I say , like others there is no need to change anything: if we have any secret to hide from others, we all, like all others have super secret model: private messages :)
I dont know can Mike read them, buf if he can: there is only few of them they can read : so : it is pretty safe :)

I also agree, keeping it open is good. I actually just learned this week that the team forums are readable by all.

I'm going with the majority here: no need to change anything.
Maybe we could change it to private when we're discussing how to steal the crown jewels.
(I can't imagine how many flags this post will be generating. And since our Lord of the Rats claims "they" even know whether he's sitting in the front or the back of his house, I'll start checking the window for any unusual activity.)
I would add a smiley to make sure "they" interpret my post correctly, but emojis are not my thing. I'm probably too old or too conservative or I just can't be bothered. |

Agree with prior posts... leave the current behavior "as is".
I had some fun (maybe a couple of years ago... has it been that long?) tracking down the external (off PrimeGrid) message board of our arch-rival team (at the time) and using G-translate to post the gist of their comments here. A couple of their members actually joined our team here so they could post. It was fun!

I would go with what others have been saying till now. It's okay not to change anything.
Am okay with the current system.

I also am OK with things as it stands. The only exception I can think of is if you have to deal with someone with learning difficulties or something similar. That presumably wouldn't be in any "general rules", though, as it doesn't apply to most people.
I've got no problem with the AtP forum remaining "adult", but we don't tend to push those limits anyway, do we?
If there is consideration for team discussions (i.e. forums) becoming private, then that would become an added dimension. That wouldn't involve any extra badges or benchmarks, though. |

Thanks for the feedback. The overwhelming sentiment seems to be to keep things as they are.
