Nothing is set in stone yet, but I want to let you know that we will not be supporting as wide a range of systems with AP27 as we do with other, older apps. In particular, there will be very limited support for 32 bit systems.
* For CPUs, there will be ONLY a 64 bit app. You will not be able to run AP27 on a CPU in a 32 bit system.
* At the present time, 32 bit OpenCL apps are available only on Windows. Mac and Linux are currently only 64 bits. (Note that, as with GFN, we'll use the 32-bit Windows OpenCL on 64 bit systems because it's faster than the 64 bit version.)
* We're not officially supporting XP. There's too few XP systems that could run AP27. The apps might work, but we can't test it and we're not going to expend any effort in making it work.
Part of the reason for not supporting 32 bit systems is that they're growing fewer and fewer in number, and not only does that make it less worthwhile for us to support, but it also makes it harder for us to test. Additionally, for AP27, there's a HUGE difference in speed between the CPU and GPU apps, and the 32 bit CPU app would be even slower. Prohibitively slow, in my opinion.
We have not yet decided on how long the tasks will run, but as an example, if we include 100 Ks in each task, the task will run for about 20 minutes on the fastest GPUs (GTX 1080, estimated), and about 3 days on the (almost) fastest CPUs (Core i5-4670K, measured). The test tasks you've been running manually are 1 K in length.
Please do not PM me with support questions. Ask on the forums instead. Thank you!
