I am running wwwwcl64 v2.2.5 with PRPNet v5.2.4. I am running 4 instances. The ranges I currently test (for WSS) are

I believe that the crashing of the instances I am experiencing sometimes might be related to this. The range of the third instance already expired on the server (I believe this is because this is the instance that crashed previously). I don't know why the last two instances show no progress. Also, from my experience with the previous crashes I believe that at least one of the last two instances will be crashing when one of the first two sends their results to the server. At least, the last two instances currently show no sign of progress. I will report what happens, when one of the first two sent their results.

Update: As soon as the first two instances sent their completed results to the server, both of the other instances crashed with the Windows error (translated into English)

wwwwcl64.exe doesn't work anymore. Due to a problem, the program isn't executed properly. The program will be closed and you will be notified, when a solution is available.


Also, it is strange that two of the instances crashed. Previously, only one would crash and three would keep running.

This could be due to the fact the software mixes pthreads and openmp. They don't tend to work well together on Windows.

If you are able to build from the source with VS2010 then a stack trace would be helpful.

This is really extremely odd. I am running wwwwcl64 v2.2.5 and for whatever reason I have completed some Wall-Sun-Sun WUs without crashing instances. Now of course this makes me really happy, but I don't have the slightest idea why that is the case. Previously at least one of the instances would crash as soon as a result was sent back to the server. The thing is I don't recall having changed anything.

I also notice that CPU usage is really low (usually between 5-15%), but the computation is nonetheless quite fast.

Well, I recently cleaned my laptop a bit (intensive malware/spyware scans etc), maybe that has something to do with it, though I can't be sure.

Anyway, wwwwcl64 and PRPNet work like a charm now (running 4 instances) and that without making much 'noise' (the fan is running on a quite low level).

Testing time for a single WSS WU in the current range (approximately 2e16) appears to be approximately 1 hour.

So in another numbering Catalyst 11.5 from May 2011.

IIRC, it was running up to 12.8 version.
Any newer version is crashing.
