I can understand that x64 machines are generally faster at sieving, however I don't see a reason why x86 machines are not allowed to sieve that project. I think there could be support for x86 sieving. Also, if a GPU app is coming out *hint hint* wouldn't that just circumvent the x64 limitation anyways? I feel that generally this reduces the workforce to something like 20% of what it could be.

If someone is willing to write the x86 asm to support Wieferich/WallSunSun, they are more than welcome to volunteer.

Regarding the GPU app, there is one called wwwwcl. There are a few kinks in the Windows builds, but those are getting worked out and I hope to post updated code this coming week. With the GPU app, I see little benefit to running the CPU-only app. A fast GPU is equivalent to 30 or more 64-bit CPU cores.

So Rogue, if you know, what is average GPU time on wwwwcl? Since you post somewhere that wwwwcl is about 25x faster then CPU code, what is CPU average time? :)
Thanks for reply

I can do a single Wieferich workunit in about 90 seconds. That is about 900 workunits per day on a single GPU.

I don't recall how long a CPU workunit takes as I haven't run one in a long time, but I thought it was over an hour. Note that for Wieferich I use three CPU cores to keep the GPU fed. WallSunSun requires less CPU.

The Wall-Sun-Sun are even faster. My 5770 on mac does one every minute or so.
It's very impressive. Nice work rogue!

That refreshed my memory (somewhat). Wieferich takes about 100 minutes on a single CPU core and WallSunSun about 40 minutes. The WallSunSun workunits are smaller than Wieferich.

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but is there still a need for a x86 app? I might be able to code one.
