I updated to PRPNet Client v5.0.4. I edited the master_prpclient.ini and added server=WIEFERICH:100:1:prpnet.mine.nu:13000.

When I then update and run the 4-quad scripts, I get the following error:

[2012-01-11 08:39:17 MZ] prpnet.mine.nu:13000 connect to socket failed with erro
r 10060
[2012-01-11 08:39:18 MZ] prpnet.mine.nu:13000 connect to socket failed with erro

r 10061
[2012-01-11 08:39:19 MZ] Could not connect to any servers and no work is pending
. Pausing 3 minutes

What could be the problem?

Port is down, and many others too.

There are two main servers that we're using for PRPNet now:

    prpnet.primegrid.com
    prpnet.mine.nu

Each one with several ports. It's best to choose a back-up port from each server. That way if a physical server goes down, your cores can continue to work on the other server. Below are examples of back-up ports with short WU's:

    server=SGS:0:1:prpnet.primegrid.com:12000
    server=GFN65536:0:1:prpnet.primegrid.com:12003
    server=PPSElow:0:5:prpnet.mine.nu:12000
    server=PPSElow2:0:5:prpnet2.mine.nu:12000

They are not commented and have 0 share. Work will only be retrieved if all other active ports are down.

NOTE: Although PPSElow and PPSElow2 settings ask for 5 WU's, since they have 0 share, they will only ask for 1 WU. This intended effect is to get the host back to it's original ports as soon as possible.

[EDIT] In the rare event that both physical servers are down, the SR5 sister project is available at a third physical location:

    server=SR5:0:1:www.psp-project.de:8105

You could set this up as back-up as well.

I checked again and now I get the message

[2012-01-11 17:01:37 MZ] WIEFERICH: ERROR: The client must run wwww to use this
server.
[2012-01-11 17:01:38 MZ] WIEFERICH: Getting work from server prpnet.mine.nu at p
ort 13000
[2012-01-11 17:01:38 MZ] WIEFERICH: ERROR: The client must run wwww to use this
server.

I don't understand why I get that error, since I have wwww in the 'programs' folder, just as in my setup with the previous prpclient version. Can this perhaps be caused by having the wrong version of wwww in the folder?

From which version did you upgrade?

Have you added

wwwwexe=wwww.exe

in master_prpclient.in. This code was not present in master_prpclient.ini of the 4.x releases.
