Naturally I do know better, but unfortunately my virus scanner sometimes disagrees. Panda AV 2011 version sometimes thinks the latest prpnet client is a virus, though I haven't been able to figure when it does and when it doesn't. Has anyone seen anything similar?

Upload prpnet client from your PC to http://www.virustotal.com/ and look at results of analysis. Maybe you have virus that attach itself to exe files?

I already scanned it using virusscan.jotti.org[/] but now I've also double checked it with the site you suggested. As expected, no virus to be found. The silly thing is it only sometimes detects it as a virus and not even in all prpclient-X directories ?_?

On closer inspection of the log it says "suspicious program found" as part of "protection against unknown threats".... i.e. some generic behavioral thingy made it trip.

Some virus scanner think this is a virus, because the programms establish an internetconnection by theirself. Maybe you can exclude the prpnet directory and every sub from your virus scanning process. Similar porblems I had have sometimes with boinc ...
