So thanks to rroonnaalldd, I was able to get my GTX 260 Core 216 and GTX 570 on Prime Grid crunching away. My only issue is the poor perceived performance of the GTX 260. A PPS (Sieve) 1.39 (cuda23) takes approximately 40 minutes on the GTX260 and just over 10 on the GTX 570. This sounds strange, because the GTX260 has 216 cores and the GTX570 has 480. While they are difference architectures, they are somewhat similar.

Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I forgot to add that the tasks were a bit different. One ended in a 0, the other in 1. Apparently the tasks ending in 1 take much longer? Is that correct?

Times sound about correct for both cards. Also, all units should take about the same time on the same hardware, give or take some seconds.

The _0 and _1 at the end have nothing to do with task length. They show how many people before you have had a copy of exactly that task.

Thanks for the heads up. I took out the GTX 260 because it's performance wasn't what I was expecting. For almost half the cores, it takes about 4 times longer to complete a similar task. It only used roughly 70W extra according to my UPS.

Yes it is all about the hardware-architecture of both cards. The GF1xx (GTX 4xx/GTX 5xx) are far superior compared to the older GF2xx (GTX 2xx) in all aspects: Core count, register count, instruction throughput, number of active threads...
It is like comparing an old Core 2 Quad with 3 GHz to a Sandy Bridge with 4 cores and hyperthreading to transfere the comparison to CPUs.

lol
I would be glad to have such an old card run along the new ... it still does its job well
And even if you say it suxx its much better then my new GTS450 (192 CC)
The performance is pure relative to how many CC the card has
Even though design does help a bit, it does not make it the holy grail
I think more important is the extra watts it uses for the same task
Now don't get me wrong here but my low budget card uses over 110 watts when fully loaded, and i think the GTX260 needs a bit more when under full stress.
Your newer model will burn alot more juice also but ofcourse performs lightning
fast compared to my cards xD

Had both of these cards, and the runtime difference was about 4 times. In Pg runnin pps sieves gts 450 is faster ( about 1/4) then gtx 260 216s. In gpugrid the gts 450 is slower than the 260. Dunno about other projects.
Gtx 260 216s is about 600 sp gflops.
gts 450 is about 400 sp gflops.
gtx 570 is about 1450 sp gflops.

GPUgrid needs DP.
GF10x/GF11x series cards have their double precision (FP64) performance capped at 1/8-th of the single precision (FP32) performance, while the architecture is capable of 1/2. In dependence of the usage area are the DP-capabilities 1/2-th for the Tesla/Quadro line and at least 1/8-th for the 400/500 consumer lines. The limitation of consumer line is not only based on hardware basis, the gpu-chips for consumer and Tesla/Quadro are different too. To meet different performance points (IMO, sell more of the expensive Quadro or Tesla cards) nvidia also added waitstates...
Here are some marketing GFLOPS values for comparison (the measured boinc values are different):
GTX580: DP = 1/8 of SP from 1581 GFLOPS
GTX560Ti: DP = 1/12 of SP from 1263 GFLOPS
GTX550Ti: DP = 1/12 of SP from 691 GFLOPS

GTX480: DP = 1/8 of SP from 1345 GFLOPS
GTX465: DP = 1/8 of SP from 855 GFLOPS
GTX460: DP = 1/8 of SP from 907 GFLOPS
GTS450: DP = 1/12 of SP from 601 GFLOPS => DP 50 GFLOPS
GT440: DP = 1/12 of SP from 311 GFLOPS

GTX285: DP = 1/8 of SP from 709 GFLOPS
GTX260: DP = 1/8 of SP from 537 GFLOPS => DP 67 GFLOPS

Another point is the memory configuration with Bus width and DRAM type. If an app needs only limited memory or loads all data to the memory at start like the PPSsieve-app, the performance increases with the amount of shader cores. GPUgrid and Einstein seem to use apps with a higher memory throughput...

The old ap26-gpu-app was very RAM-bandwidth-constrained. There my GTX460 was slower than my GTX 260 (39 vs 32 seconds per ap-number) - that is the ratio of the bandwidth: 86.4 GB/s vs 111.9 GB/s.

Hi, where did you take that info about the nvidia cards?

Some values are listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_400_Series, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_500_Series and other came directly from Anandtech.
Some web pages (pcgh, thg) have released values for SP and DP performance in the past. This makes it easier to calculate the ratios between SP and DP for different gpu's.
