What am I doing wrong with this new version, it just closes right after I run it. Here is the Log:

// email= is a REQUIRED field. The server will be use this address
// to send you an e-mail when your client discovers a prime.
email=halpoppa@hotmail.com

// userid= is a REQUIRED field that will be used by the server
// to report on stats, etc. without having to reveal the user's
// e-mail address. DO NOT USE spaces. Instead use underscore _.
userid=JohnMJohnson

// This value differentiates clients using the same e-mail ID
// DO NOT USE spaces. Instead use underscore _.
clientid=JohnMJohnson

// Tests completed by this "team" will be rolled-up as part of team stats. This
// will be recorded on tests that are pending and then updated when tests are
// completed. Since it is stored on the server per test, it is possible for a
// single user to be a member of multiple teams. If no value is specified for
// this field, then completed tests and primes will not be awarded to any teams.
// DO NOT USE spaces. Instead use underscore _.
teamid=

// server= configures the mix of work to perform across one or more
// servers. It is parsed as follows:
// <suffix>:<pct>:<workunits>:<server IP>:<port>
//
// <suffix> - a unique suffix for the server. This is used to distinguish
// file names that are created for each configured server.
// <pct> - the percentage of PRP tests to do from the server.
// <workunits> - the number of PRP tests to get from the server. The
// server also has a limit, so the server will never return
// more than its limit.
// <server IP> - the IP address or name for the server
// <port> - the port of the PRPNet server, normally 7101
//
// Setting pct to 0 means that the client will only get work from the
// server if it cannot connect to one of the other configured servers.
// Please read the prpnet_servers.txt in this directory for information

Run the "prpclient.exe" from a command line prompt and you will be able to see what it is complaining about.

Your one server may just be out of work.

teamid is optional. You will have to run the client from a command prompt to see what it is complaining about.

Not sure why but I just installed 4.3.5 on a new pc and it's giving me an error of the following

[2011-07-14 15:54:00 CDT] PRPNet Client application v4.3.5 started
[2011-07-14 15:54:00 CDT] SGS: Test results not found in file [lresults.txt]. Assuming user stopped with ^C
[2011-07-14 15:54:00 CDT] Total Time: 0:00:00 Total Tests: 0 Total PRPs Found: 0
[2011-07-14 15:54:00 CDT] Client shutdown complete

can someone explain what I did wrong. I don't see the lresults.txt file in any of my other prpclient folders.

That is odd. Set debuglevel=1 and post the output.

I know I must have copied a file wrong or something. I started all over this morning but copied over an earlier version from a system I knew was working.

Everything "seems" to be fine now.

Thanks Rick

I am experiencing the same problem. Would you like the log to a pm or a mail or something (it is rather big...)

Zip up and send me an e-mail, not a PM.

BTW, delete (or rename) your current prpclient.log before running the test then send the file to me after the test. It should be a lot smaller.

Can someone please help me... all it does is flash, too quick to read, but I think it says something about team. I have checked, and the team is correct, perhaps some other problem?

// email= is a REQUIRED field. The server will be use this address
// to send you an e-mail when your client discovers a prime.
email=andy@andycluer.com

// userid= is a REQUIRED field that will be used by the server
// to report on stats, etc. without having to reveal the user's
// e-mail address. DO NOT USE spaces. Instead use underscore _.
userid=Etolf

// This value differentiates clients using the same e-mail ID
// DO NOT USE spaces. Instead use underscore _.
clientid=Etolf

// server= configures the mix of work to perform across one or more
// servers. It is parsed as follows:
// <suffix>:<pct>:<workunits>:<server IP>:<port>
//
// <suffix> - a unique suffix for the server. This is used to distinguish
// file names that are created for each configured server.
// <pct> - the percentage of PRP tests to do from the server.
// <workunits> - the number of PRP tests to get from the server. The
// server also has a limit, so the server will never return
// more than its limit.
// <server IP> - the IP address or name for the server
// <port> - the port of the PRPNet server, normally 7101
//
// Setting pct to 0 means that the client will only get work from the
// server if it cannot connect to one of the other configured servers.

Add a pause statement at the end of the bat file. that way you will be able to see the error and change the debug level to 3 so the log file will show if it's internal

added a pause in the .bat file. changed debug level to 3. can't find a logfile. DOS reports:-
MIN prpclient.exe after each cpu startup.

No other comments. No wu fetch, no anything.

You didn't follow the instructions then.

You need to open a command prompt, then cd (change directory) to the folder where the client is installed, then type "prpclient" followed by pressing the enter key. If there is a problem in your ini file, it will be echoed back to you.

following your instructions I get - Configuration file 'prpclient.ini' could not be opened for reading. Exiting

I thought maybe this was because it was in a different subdirectory, so I copied it, and it made no difference. Might it be because it's asking for 'prpclient' and the ini file I have is 'master_prpclient.ini'?

I keep thinking I'm missing something, but I can't see what it is... I'm not ignorant of DOS, in fact I wrote a manual for it some years back, so it shouldn't be that.

following your instructions I get - Configuration file 'prpclient.ini' could not be opened for reading.

Yes, the prpclient.ini file needs to be in the same folder as prpclient.exe. Copy the master_prpclient.ini to that folder and name it prpclient.ini. Then change the clientid value in that file (I use a different client for each computer/core combination). I presume that you have followed the other instructions for configurating the master_prpclient.ini file before you copy it.

When the port is set to 0%, the client will only gets 1 workunit in the hope that it can complete that workunit, then get work from a server that has a percentage greater than 0. I suggest you change it to 1%, then it will get the desired number of workunits.
