Hi all,

After a lot of crunching here in PSA, I finally found a relatively BIG prime:

SGS: 40927541407485*2^666666-1 (~200701 digits)

I guess it will enter the TOP 5000 largest known primes db.
Is there something I should do in order to achieve this or the whole process is automatic?

Congrats :)

I will test it to see if there is any SG or Twin.

Congrats :)

I've just looked at my statistics and noticed that I also found a candidate.

SGS: 40928135586525*2^666666-1

Unfortunately I do not know what to do now.

Congratulations,
I will test your prime for SG and Twin with LLR 3.8.1 and post the result here. As to official verification and post to the top 5000 database Lennart or John will have to handle that.

For it to be an SG prime it needs to be in the form
k.b^n-1; k.b^(n+1)-1
k= 40928135586525 b=2 and n= 666666-1 & 666667-1
For it to be a twin prime it needs to be in the form
k.b^n+-1
k= 40928135586525 b=2 and n= 666666-1 & 666666+1
If I am correct the original prime would be shown like this
(40928135586525*2^666666)-1
because the *^ are completed before subtraction

I'm under the impression that a SG prime is p such that 2p+1 is also prime.

I thought that once we find a prime P, we want to check that if it could be either the "p" (so we check 2P+1) or the "2p+1" (in which case we check the primality of (P-1)/2).

So, if we find that k*2^666666-1 is prime, we want to also check ((k*2^666666-1)-1)/2 = (k*2^666666-2)/2 = k*2^666665-1. This would mean the SG prime isn't the first prime found, but actually the second one that we're checking manually.

Does this sound right?

SGS Test

40928135586525*2^666666-1 is prime! Time : 996.885 sec.
40928135586525*2^666667-1 is not prime. LLR Res64: DAD1F70B5F84A4B4 Time : 943.570 sec. (Not an SG)
40928135586525*2^666666+1 is not prime. Proth RES64: 9B42A7C37D3D130D Time : 933.577 sec. (Not a Twin)

Maybe Some day I get to be the lucky one and find one of these SGS Primes.

Does 40928135586525*2^666665-1 also need to be checked, since 2(40928135586525*2^666665-1)+1 = the original prime?

Yes, it does. When k*b^n-1 is found prime, the following are also checked

k*b^n+1 (would result in a twin)
k*b^(n-1)-1 & k*b^(n+1)-1 (would result in an SG)

Using "###:z:3:2:46" in an LLR header will test in this order

    k*b^n-1
    k*b^n+1
    k*b^(n-1)-1
    k*b^(n+1)-1

<sieve limit>:<mode character>:<chain len>:<base>:<mode bitmap as a decimal>
### is sieve limit...can be any random number for testing purposes.

For example, using the above candidate, copy this to an input file and run in LLR:

100000:z:3:2:46
40928135586525 666666

Thanks guys I did not realize that I needed to check k*b^(n-1)-1. I will check that now.

Thanks Jay for the showing the math. Now that I understand the math and the program here is the results from the two SG primes.

Hi,

It looks like I found one of these as well:

SGS: 40940077078815*2^666666-1

My question is if my BOINC Primegrid preferences will be followed
to automatically report this one to the Top 5000 list if it checks out, or
will I need to manually report it myself like I did a few years ago on a few
others that I found on Primegrid then that made the list?

Today I received a confirmation message from John Michael Blazek:

Dear Primefinder, Congratulations! Our records indicate that a computer registered by you has found a unique prime number. This computer is running BOINC, is attached to the PrimeGrid project, and is assigned to the Sophie Germain Prime Search. What makes this prime unique is that it's large enough to enter the Top 5000 List in Chris Caldwell's The Largest Known Primes Database. Since you have auto-reporting selected, the following prime was submitted on your behalf: Added 92736 : 40927541407485*2^666666-1 (200701 digits)

So everything that needed to be done has been done automatically, and in a a short time.

bye to all

Hi,

I finally figured out which computer had returned a SGS prime.

40969564264935*2^666666-1

Sill waiting for an email to confirm it.

Anyone want to do the other tests (yes I have to admit I haven't figured out that part of the process).

A week ago I found prime in SGS

SGS: 5119438293555*2^666669-1

I didn't receive any email about it and I can't find it on Prime Pages. Should I report it by myself?

Hi all,

I think I found my first prime yesterday which should be:

20175220147005*2^666667-1

As I have set 'autoreport' in my prefs, I assume there's nothing else to do but wait some time, to finally see it on the stats lists, right?

Anyway, I thought it's worth a post, as it seems no prime for SGS has been found on PRP for more than two months now...

Greetings, Erik!

I've done 14946 SGS tests on PRPnet and found 2 primes.. But I can't find any emails that tell me about them. The only emails I can find are about the 3 I found with BOINC which are...

=SGS primes are being held up now to allow PPS primes to make the Top 5000 database. As room becomes available, SGS primes are submitted. As you can see from today's submission, 7 SGS primes were submitted. There's over 50 primes in the backlog right now.=

E-Mail answer from my inquiry about same subject from John

Look here for most recent reported primes:

Thanks a lot for checking and updating - appreciate!

Actually, I would wait some days anyway. I was just wondering, as I assumed an automatic process behind which seems to not be the case ;-)

And just to doublecheck - when the SGSs are submitted to TOP5000 they will also turn up in the PRP stats, i.e. in the primelist for PRPNET SGS?!

Greetings, Erik
