Sorry if this is posted somewhere but I couldn't find this information.

I understand BOINC credits are manually posted from PRPnet to BOINC about once a month. How do the credits/hr compare between PrimeGrid BOINC and PRPnet? Is there a relationship between the 'score' shown on the user-stats page and credits, or is that something entirely different?

Also, to grant credit, I imagine you have to be able to associate PRPnet userids to BOINC accounts. How is that done, by email address?

Again, my apologies if this is answered already.

Regards,
Mike

I don't know the exact answers. Someone like John would.

The credits are posted about once a month - when they get posted has something to do with the amount of work that gets processed and the time available by the admins.

The credit is higher on PRPnet. They give a little extra credit due to the extra effort to run. You have to remember, the credit granted for time on PrimeGird varies alot due to the the mix of jobs you run. The same is true on PRPnet. I suppose if you run the least efficient jobs on PPRNet and the most efficient jobs on Primegrid you might come out even.

The score on PrimeGrids "your account" page is your credit and will show up under "Project Staging Area work" and is the same credit as all other projects. I think the points on PRPNet's Status page are the same. It's hard to tell because it's broken down by project and day. I never seem to be able to run only one project and track the score.

When you set up PPRnet you have to specify the host ID. This will apply the credit to the computer doing the work and thus to you.

Okay, I guess it helps to RTFM -- twice. I found this in the readme:

* userid= This is a REQUIRED field. Enter your PrimeGrid username here. It will be used by the server to report on stats, etc. and to grant credit.

So I used the same username for PRPnet as for PrimeGrid, except that since my BOINC username has a space in it, the PRPnet username seems to have only picked up the first part of it, "Michael" (as shown in the user stats page). Is this a problem? If so, would changing the line in prpclient.ini to 'userid="Michael Goetz"' (putting quotes around the username) fix the problem? (If indeed there is a problem.)

Adding to Danial's response:

There remains no set rules for granting credit in the Project Staging Area. However, we do follow certain guidelines that are adjusted as the projects themselves are adjusted. In general, PSA work receives a cobblestone premium to compensate for the extra effort needed to run the manual work and to reward the BOINC prep work.

From the Welcome to PRPNet post:

# email= This is a REQUIRED field. Enter your email address. E-mail will be sent to this address when a number is found to be PRP. If you wish for your prime to be included in PrimeGrid's Primes Database, please use the same address that you registered with when connecting to PrimeGrid.
# userid= This is a REQUIRED field. Enter your PrimeGrid username here. It will be used by the server to report on stats, etc. and to grant credit.

NOTE: PRPNet primes n>100K will eventually be added to PG's primes database but it is unknown when that will happen. Sorry for the delay.

Also, for any userid's that don't match up with a PG userid, it may take up to 2 years to apply credit as further research is needed. ;) that's a wink. :) Seriously, email is then used to match accounts. If userid and email do not match, credit is not granted.

Another post to look at: Receiving Credit. However, thanks to Sysadm@Nbg, PRPNet credit is granted every one to two weeks thanks to his summary page.

Yes, this does cause a problem. The recommended solution is to add an underscore to your PRPNet userid: Michael_Goetz

EDIT: We should probably update the instructions to include this exception. :)
