Unfortunately, it seems that Prof Caldwell is retiring from maintaining the Prime Pages.
Does anyone here know anything about someone possibly taking over? At mersenneforum no one seems to know any details. It'd be sad if it would just go.
edit: the message is gone now from the website. Maybe they found someone.

Info banner is still present on subsequent pages like Bios, Top20, Search etc.
They need to look inside UTM, because of hosting and domain, so why the banner?
I don't think they would give up primes.utm.edu domain, even it is technically possible.
It would be best to read from CC what are the options, if the project is gonna end when has is no longer there as a Profesor.
Can't imagine to start Top5000 project on a new domain in short term, it has been there like forever and linked bambilion times.
Or would it be Top10k so that PPSE fits?
Or a more exclusive Top1000?
I mean - would it continue the same way it was up to now...?

Rytis mentioned it on Discord, so the cat is out of the bag...
Chris Caldwell is retiring ASAP because of personal reasons. The current prime pages are unlikely to continue past July 1, 2023.
@Reggie and I (Rytis) are in contact with Chris about taking over the prime pages as soon as possible and convenient. The new prime pages are going to be independent of PrimeGrid, but as is right now, tightly integrated. Any help will of course be appreciated.

Yes, Rytis and Reggie planning to take over Top 5k. And on Discord, it was also revealed that they are planning to use domain t5k.org. /JeppeSN

Will the university be willing to put a URL forwarder on for a while, so that all the sites that currently hit the old one will auto-forward to the new one? This would make for an easier transformation.

Hopefully, but we're not sure yet. I'll bring it up with Chris later. I would also guess we're at least a month away from having to think about this.

It would be nice if the new site contains not just the top 5K primes, but also the top 20 for special forms (i.e., Cullen primes), as well as all of the bios info for those who have ever found a top 5K prime.
For example, Ed Adamson has a bio page (https://primes.utm.edu/bios/page.php?id=119) even though his primes have all dropped off the top 5K list. The primes he previously found that are no longer on the list can still be accessed by clicking "all of this person's primes" in his bio, and I think it would be great if all of his bio info were "grandfathered in" and accessible on the new site. If nothing else, it shows some interesting historical trivia - a 18,456 digit prime, which can be found in a matter of minutes today, was good enough to rank at #237 back in 1998.
Another thing to consider would be the scoring system. Will the formula for scoring primes (https://primes.utm.edu/bios/top20.php?type=person&by=ScoreRank) remain exactly the same, or will it be modified?

The site will be very similar. We're basically reusing all the existing code from Chris, as well as the same preexisting data. Nothing should be lost in the transition.

Just curious, but are the Prime Curios going to be hosted on the new site? I'm sure I'm not the only person who doesn't want them to be lost.

That's excellent news, thanks for your hard work!

That's the current plan. Not set in stone, but very likely to continue.

I noticed that a preliminary version of the site is now up. It shouldn't be used for submissions yet, but it's looking great so far: https://t5k.org/primes/
