Your personal background.
Hi, I'm a rather anonymous person. If you want to know more about me, just ask the NSA. If anybody has a nice team with a purpose they want me to join, private message me and I will consider it.
Your opinions about PrimeGrid
I run PrimeGrid because I like finding primes and especially proving the conjectures. This project (and the whole of BOINC) is a great idea because we can use the unused resources of personal computers everywhere to advance the field of mathematics (and, more importantly, earn bragging rights to finding a Top 5000 prime) instead of building some supercomputer owned by some big company. With PrimeGrid, everybody can feel like they are a part of the community of prime-finders rather than just watching some large company.

Explanation of my current computers:

The two-core is a mid-ish range Acer Aspire desktop from 2010 with an AMD Athlon II X2 at 2.7 GHz, ATi Radeon HD 4250 onboard graphics, and 4GB of RAM. It takes about 45 minutes to run Sophie Germain or ESP/PSP sieve (per core, of course), and a little over 15 days straight to run an SoB. It's on most of the time, usually (but not always) overnight and most of the day except a few hours when I decide to give it a break. It is currently running ESP sieve to try to get the next badge in before the project closes :)

The four-core is a $360 HP Pavillion G7 laptop I got on groupon because I needed a laptop and something is better than nothing. It has an AMD Vision A8-4500M APU at 1.9 GHz and 8GB of RAM. Because of the much lower clock speed it takes twice as long (about 1 hour 30 minutes) to run a Sophie Germain or ESP/PSP sieve, but having four cores lets it run at about the same overall speed as my desktop. It is on sporadically during the day. It runs either Sophie Germain or ESP sieve on all four cores, depending on how warm I want it to get. Currently also running ESP sieve to help out.
