Message 2989 - Posted 9 Apr 2006 11:38:46 UTC

    Last modified: 9 Apr 2006 11:44:04 UTC

    Hi,

I\'ve been away from Primegrid for awhile and decided to crunch a few wu\'s, but I keep getting the following error message:

Message from server: incomplete request received.

I have stopped and restarted Boinc several times, all to no avail.

    Am I doing anything wrong?

    I\'m using BOINC 5.2.13, Windows XP, AMD K6 500Mhz, 192Mb RAM.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

What if you just let it run? Usually the \"incomplete request\" means that you only got part of the work in, before the connection (for whatever reason) failed to get the rest in. Anything in your Transfer tab?

Hi Ageless, thanks for the response.

I have an always on broadband connection.

About a week ago I re-enabled work requests for Primegrid, I don\'t usually micromanage Boinc (or Boincview in my case). I use the default 100 share for all my projects and a 0.5 days connect to setting.

I don\'t see anything in the transfer tab (but I will have another look).

I didn\'t have any problems with some of my other projects that I re-enabled work requests for, when work became available I got some.

One thing I have noticed though is when I look at my computers it says that it was last contacted on 22nd March. According to my messages tab Scheduler Request has succeeded, several times today.

        Thanks

OK, PG switched to a new server some time ago. It\'s very much possible that your BOINC is still trying to contact the old server (old DNS).

The news on the front site says:
\"2006-02-25 11:59:13 UTC DNS propagation issues
Recently we moved servers and some users are reporting that they are unable to get work although they can browse the website at the new server. This is due to the fact that the server address has been changed and BOINC remembers the old one. A simple solution for this would be to restart BOINC, or wait for some more time for BOINC DNS cache to expire.
            \"

But you\'ve done enough waiting, I think. ;)
What if you reset the project first? If that doesn\'t help, detach and re-attach?

Yes I had noticed the news, but like you say, this has been going on for quite long enough.

I have reset the project, but still no luck.

I\'ve avoided detaching from the project so far because I didn\'t want to not be able to re-attach, particularly if there was a simple solution. I\'ll try that.

              [edit]
              Well I\'ve detached, and now I can\'t re-attach.
Though I still get Scheduler Request succeeded, followed by incomplete request received at which point it automatically resets and then detaches.

I used http://www.primegrid.com/ and my account key.

Well, sorry you had to go through that. But no, I am out of ideas. I think you need Rytis his help for this, if he finds time to look on the forums during his week in Sweden.

                            Any one figure this out???

I\'ve got 7 computers now, with a huge backload of WUs to report. Some computers seem to work fine, all with the same settings, and one the same network.

                            TIA

I am trying to solve it. Seems like Apache is not passing sent data to the scheduler (only GET method). Sometimes BOINC makes a POST request, and it goes through, but I don\'t really know why it makes a POST and not GET and how to force it to use POST.

It should be possible to attach new computers now, we\'re working on a fix for previously attached ones.

I see the problem in your log, the scheduler URL is missing the trailing slash (\"/\"). Therefore it gets redirected to the \"real\" url and with that loses the request parameters.

My problem may now be fixed.

I deleted my host from my account, and then re-attached (a new computer - actually the same one), and have downloaded a wu... :)

I will wait and see if it uploads the result correctly.

Without pre-empting fate I\'ll say thanks Rytis :)

I opened client_state.xml file in BOINC directory, found Primegrid entry, then found scheduler URL and addeda \"/\" to it. Saved the file, started BOINC and now it works:)
