3) Message boards : Problems and Help : Cannot merge computers (Message 118041)

Hi all, I recently had to completely reinstall the OS to one computer due to a disk failure. Re-installed BOINC and attached it to the usual projects. I had to merge the new generated computer id with the old one in any projects and everything went well exept on Primegrid where I got
Can't merge host 32795 into 931776 - they're incompatible

also I got
Host 32795 has an incompatible CPU: (GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz [Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 2], GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz [Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 2])

Any hints?

I understand how important is it to keep BOINC (as a Citizen's Science tool) development alive and support D. A. group in Berkeley, and I would like to share my personal experience. However I'm not really sure if contributions from non American organizations and/or citizens will be taken into account. Do you have hints about this?

I guess that in order to support (easily, without anonymous platforms) the Hawaii GPUs a project needs both a suitable application (no CAL/Stream but any openCL one should be fine) AND a server upgrade (at least the gpu recognition part of it).

Any progress (news) on this topic?
6) Message boards : Number crunching : Limiting number of running tasks (Message 78439)
Posted 2456 days ago by Profile valtercProject donor
I have a 4 core CPU. BOINC has 3 of them leaving 1 for GPU work.

However, I want to limit the number of PrimeGrid CPU tasks to 2 but still allow 1 GPU task to run. The tasks can be from any of the subprojects.

Any suggestions on how to achieve this ?

After posting a question similar to this one to the boinc-project mailing list, ie. How can I just run n instances of primegrid LLR applications, regardless of what kind? D. Anderson wrote:

I added this feature; see
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration#Application_configuration

This will be available in the 7.6 client release.

We will have a <project_max_concurrent>N</project_max_concurrent> at a project scope inside app_config.xml. This will solve (most) of the problem.

A couple of weeks ago I returned to sieve at PPR and now I'm getting credits from my work the way I expected, smoothly. The only problem is that, for some strange reasons, the RAC assigned by Primegrid is way higher then the average credits I get. For example, just now, I got a RAC (in my account page) of around 4.8M while, in the last ten days, I started with around 1M/day going up to ~3.5M.... see this http://boincstats.com/en/charts/11/user/gainPerDay/8810/chart.png

This is just a little bit annoying, all of my teammates keep me asking which server-farm I rented....
