Yes, and that gives me an idea for another Badge or two...

I think for Tour De Primes, the person that does not find a prime but gets the most double checks and/or
The person that does not find a prime but reports their double check the closest behind the prime finder, deserves a badge!

I call it the Buzz Aldrin badge - has there ever been a more famous wingman/runner up?

Imagine a nice little silver circle (for the moon) with a gold B in the middle.

Well you need a bit of luck here and I had zero for TDP 2020.
I was pumping out plenty of GFN 16 with my RTX2080 and 65-70 second run times.
Nothing, not even a double check.
Then along comes Vaughan (wingman Sean) and snags a GFN 16 prime with the blistering speed of 906 seconds !!! LOL

3) Message boards : Number crunching : Intel or AMD for LLR Tasks? (Message 137853)
Posted 180 days ago by Profile David Steel
Well I would like to get the 10980XE but none of the retailers here in Australia have it in stock.
It was only released in Q4 2019 so is it very popular or rare?
Its a bit pricey - $1800 AUD ($1200 US)

I have some times for my 16 core 9960X which uses AVX512:
PPS-Mega (running 3 core tasks) = 1130 - 1293 sec
PPSE (running single core tasks) = 398 - 441 sec
SGS (running single core tasks) = 364 - 369 sec

Nick, why don't you run multi core on your 9980XE and 9960X for PPSE, it should bring the run times way down?

Intel or AMD for LLR Tasks?
Broadly speaking has one got an advantage over the other at PrimeGrid?
I'm doing a new build and deciding which way to go.

Simply looking for whatever CPU is fastest at LLR...

Is one better than the other for long tasks like SOB / WOO / CUL, or for short tasks like PPS / SGS?

I've been looking at the i9-9900KS / Ryzen 9-3950X but also the i9-10980XE.

Now my son (teenager) is telling me I have to get a Ryzen Threadripper!

Does Primegrid have a table or chart showing the fastest CPU's for a subproject?
Say if we pick PPS MEGA, can we see a 9900KS did it in 800 sec, a 9900 = 900 sec, a 9700 = 1000 sec etc...

Thanks!

YES!!
Found one GFN - 16!

Phew.
The Vega 56 comes to the party LOL.

Ah you got me!
I was faster and slower at the same time...

I'll re-word this line to say: Very frustrating when you get these work units AFTER HOST 153120 as you have a much lower chance of returning it first.

If the work units are invalid, does it matter whether or not they are returned before yours?

Yes, because they have delayed the task.

Meanwhile your wingman has returned it first...

Can anything be done about bad hosts / users / PC's?

'Anonymous' has a PC that is constantly returning invalids for PPS - over 2150 this past week.

Not one valid or pending...

Very frustrating when you get these work units as you have a much lower chance of returning it first.

Thanks

I took some artistic liberty with the last name. Let me know what you think. :)

Crikey!

Mate I think she's a ripper!
9) Message boards : Number crunching : NVIDIA Quadro (Message 123812)

Looking at the specs, the K5200 has 2304 CUDA cores and so does the new RTX 2070.

Does that mean the K5200 should do GFN at similar speeds to the 2070 or are the Quadro cards missing something else besides faster clocks and DDR6 memory?

I've got a chance to buy some lightly used Quadro cards - K5200 and K4200.

Are they any good for PrimeGrid, in particular GFN?

Thanks
