I have done 20 WUs so far, all but three are solo, no wingman, and the three timed out before I even joined.

Hi,

I don't know about gui solution but here is the CC_CONFIG of one of my BOINC clients, among other thing it tells BOINC to ignore GPU #1. In this case (my case) it will use GPU #0.

<cc_config>
<options>
<allow_multiple_clients>1</allow_multiple_clients>
<allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
<ignore_nvidia_dev>1</ignore_nvidia_dev>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
</options>
</cc_config>

How come running SOB on 2 cores and starting in the past few days 3 cores on a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600 CPU @ 3.30GHz with 16GB RAM, running Windows 10 Core x64 Edition and I am about 80% of the time 1st.
Are all the big guns away ?

7) Message boards : Number crunching : Can WU's be directed to different GPU's? (Message 118472)

There is a working solution that needs some preparations.
Run two (2) boinc clients on the machine and then use a CC_CONFIG like this:

<cc_config>
<options>
<allow_multiple_clients>1</allow_multiple_clients>
<allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
<ignore_nvidia_dev>0</ignore_nvidia_dev>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
</options>
</cc_config>

This one ignore the first GPU, now let it run, identify the computer number on the PG server and assign project preferences for it. Do that for a 2nd client there you use: <ignore_nvidia_dev>1</ignore_nvidia_dev>

BOINC is a very convenient platform for us participants to use, you can set it up, attach a project and start crunching in mere minutes.

However, when you start using it more often than not you use it for more than one project or in the case of PG more than one sub-project, you find out the it is not very accommodating in allocating resources exactly as you want.

As a result, one must grow from being a BOINC novice to a novice+, read the BOINC literature, research the forums and try various configurations to achieve the desired goal. For myself (a novice+) the easiest way is to run a separate client for each project / sub-project.

Aside from the actual crunching, tinkering with the setup is a great part of the fun.

One more thing, there might be a security risk with an app like this.
