The seti guys are quite scared. They should lose a good number of cores tomorrow because the working week starts (last friday was holiday).

They also want to start "headhunting" users to join their team. (because of Scott)

Oh, they are also welcome us as readers ... more a hint to Michael ;)

I bet Mikel thinks he posted it in the Number Crunching thread, but the thread there and here have both the same name.

Read somewhere that the i7 7700k gets really hot under AVX work and pulls much more watt then the 91W TPD.

In terms of throughput this puts the system slightly ahead of the 14 core E5-2683v3 ES I have. I think for LLR the tables would turn though.

Yeah sure, tasks with AVX will be a very different world. But for sieving and lower GFN this system is highly competitive.

Someone had previously asked about power of the server. Currently it is taking 231W from the wall. I've temporarily taken out half the ram to help with the... let's say unusual cooling configuration I had to improvise to control the noise.

Thats really not much for this crunching power. As long the cpu's run still at quad channel it's fine with lesser ram.

@Iain looks like you have the HT cores not running on your beasts.

His AMD pc with vista 64 runs on the private GFN13 server. And after the stats he got earlier units with 64bit.

Mabey the b is already so high that the slower transform is used? (like gfn19 and lower).

The all core turbo should be at 2ghz + 4*100mhz = 2.4ghz
I hope I got it right from here.

Do you have an power consumption meter? Would be interesting. I guess it's about 270W after the PSU at full load (with only 1 SSD).

Well, that's true. Also a good dual socket board with pci-e costs more than your new system, sadly.

@AA, cpu's should be xeon e5-2650 v0 (the sandy bridge ones), so they have AVX, but not AVX2/FMA3

go for the full rack
