1) Message boards : Number crunching : The Prime Time Challenge (Reloaded) (Message 11845)

Does it really matter that the clock is still running?

The stats will be manually updated later, as posted elsewhere on this forum!

I'm a little bit insecure about the running clock, I've not much time to read in this challenge because of renovating the flat. After all the problems to get work and the time was needed to control the PCs I've feared, the challenge runs over the time. There are not much information on the start page about the status.

Two questions:

Why is the clock still running for the challenge? I think, its over.

Why the user stats not up to date?

Have the same problem. When I save in the preferences the location home and school it works. If I save the location work, all 3 locations are disappear.

I am also running 64bit Vista in two hosts and 64bit Server 2003 in one host:
http://www.primegrid.com/hosts_user.php?userid=25183

All work without problems, running 64-bit Boinc 6.2.18.

Just checked: You have no AMD running under Windows 64 bit. I've searched in other public PCs for this error in the task lists. Looks, only AMD under 64bit Windows are affected. Also my Intel are not effected, only my AMDs.

Are you running 64bit or 32bit Boinc-client?
Check if cooling is OK?
Check the RAM (run memtest)?
LLR-application is VERY sensitive to HW-problems.

I've 1066 RAM from OCZ in 2 Vista ltimate 64 PC, running now at 800. Memtest is ok.
Another has 1066 RAM from A-DATA in a XP Pro 64 PC, now also downclocked at 800 MHz, Memtest ok.

On a 32 bit XP there is no problem. I use the 64 bit BOINC Client.

When I had calc error, I would know the problem. But the PCs makes a reboot and wait then for login. This should not happen on Vista.

Actually I have the RAM set to GANGED mode instead UNGANGED. Looks a bit more stable, the uptime are much greater (12 hours and more instead less than 8) between the reboots.

Adding information about cooling:
I have in every PC a 25 cm fan in the left case cover, one 12 cm in the front for the HD and 1 in the rear. All power supply units have a 12 cm fan. The cooler are one Zalman and the other both have the Scythe Samurai. No CPU is over 55°C, the boards under 30°C. The case are all Sharkoon Rebel9 with very good air supply. The temperature should not be a problem in all 3 cases.

I've also many problems with my 3 AMD Phenom, 2 running on Vista 64 bit, 1 on XP 64 bit. I've tried many settings, Ganged and Unganged mode for the RAM, downclocking the RAM, reinstalling BOINC, changing between the 6.3.10 and 6.2.18. Every day at minimum one PC is rebooting without any log entry. Looks like the WoW64-emulation for Win 32bit isn't stable enough for Woodall.

Complete weirdness. Sorry that I could not help :(

Thanks for the trying. I hope, the other PCs don't get the same problem ...

It still marks host as not reliable. What-the-...

I've removed all results from the host in question. Try again now. If it does not help, I'm out of ideas.

Same problem, I have now detached and reattached, but the same problem again.

EDIT: It's a pity, I've changed now to PSP Sieve for some minutes and got a lot of work. So this machine is out from the challenge, but better then no work.

Should I better detach and reattach this PC or do you like to find out the failure?

However, I reset error rate for your Linux host. Try again to see if it helped, if it did, I'll reset other hosts, too.

Same problem. Or I'm too fast?
