Even GeneferWR on a GTX970 uses very little memory, 2GB is more than enough, but it does need to access it often so faster is better.

<edit> just checked on my 7950 and that is also is very miserly on it's memory size requirements</edit>

I've seen posts that some people are having problems with the latest NVidia drivers (364) but prior versions are OK (361).
