1) Message boards : Number crunching : FACT: If you have slow GPU, you will not ever be the first to find a prime. (Message 103829)
Posted 948 days ago by Profile parabolProject donor
To find primes is pure luck. To find one as initial finder is like winning in the lottery.
Some significant primes were found on 'slow' machines.

I found a 1Million+ prime some years ago on a slow machine.
With the new installed Nvidia1070 I found a nice prime within a month.

It's like participating in a car-race:

The faster and more powerful your car, the better the chance to win the race.
Running many fast and powerful cars on different events will increase your chances to win a price.
However; some races are long and painful !

Summary:
If your car is an old model and you can't 'tune' it up , you will always smell the smoke of your opponent's ahead !
And finally - even if your old car would get a time-bonus towards your opponent's
it's very likely that all the fast cars will overtake you during the race!

Happy crunching !

Ammendum 'wingman' :
My experience is that about 30 to 40 % of WU's sent to me are for 'double-checking'
Dont know if it has something to do with my already responded task's ??
Only about 10 % are 'new sent'
All this depending on project's you have choosen.

I personaly installed Solar-Panels on my house here in Thailand.
But only 3.5 kWP as I can not sell any 'overproduction'

Sunshine in Thailand is 300 day's / year / @ about 8hrs

And this only for crunching !! Because I love to find primes !!

My system behaving well with Solar- Power

Greetings and happy new year

Just very moderate OC on the 1070,
however running just two cores on the I6700K OC to 4.1
to keep temperatures under control.

I agree with 'the revenant rat' ..

France is at the moment a very high target for terrorism for many reasons..

I would avoid big public places, discotheques, shopping malls etc.

Anyway, I would not visit France at this time .. with the football games going on
the risk for terrorist-attacks increased dramatically.

Hope your son will be save .. wherever he's going in France

Thanks for clarification.
I'm running a 6700K on 4 cores.
No OC and no HT so i can keep temp a bit under control.
Temp showing 60~70 deg C with peaks up to 74C

Opening a window from the room gets fresh air in, but not cold.
Have a look at realtime-data from my weather station
