3) Message boards : Number crunching : Can't get GPU tasks (Message 116266)

I seem to be unable to get any GPU tasks. According to the log, NVIDIA tasks are frequently requested but always turned down.

I am running Mac High Sierra with an NVIDEA GPU. How do I figure out where my problem is?

Thanks,
Jim

I have the same problem since a while and still no solution for it: http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=7732

I get GPU tasks from einstein@home and milkyway@home without any problems, but no PrimeGrid tasks.

Adrian Schori,
In your primegrid preferences there are few checkboxes at the top (Use ATI/AMD GPU, Use NVIDIA GPU), is the according one enabled?

My GPU is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX and I enabled the "Use NVIDIA GPU" checkbox. I did not change my preferences since a long time. It worked for years without problems. I updated to the newest BOINC manager Version 7.8.6, but I still can't get any work for GPU from PrimeGrid. GPU tasks from einstein@home work fine.

I don't know, but maybe it has to do with the annoying problem, that macOS High Sierra 10.13 is incompatible with the GPU CUDA driver as discussed her: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1025945/cuda-setup-and-installation/mac-cuda-driver-fully-compatible-with-macos-high-sierra-10-13-error-quot-update-required-quot-solved-/1

I have none of these files in my BOINC-Data folder, I find only ss_config.xml

A few days before my BOINC Manager couldn't connect to the BOINC client anymore. I had to uninstall BOINC and delete all files related to BOINC. I reinstalled BOINC and now it's running again, but I don't get any GPU tasks from Primegrid now. I was running genefer19 tasks for a long time without any problems. The preferences are the same (no restrictions for GPU).

I tested a GPU task from einstein@home, it's running fine.

That's what the message board shows:

7) Message boards : Generalized Fermat Prime Search : Longer runtimes for GFN-19 tasks after update to macOS Sierra (Message 109243)
Posted 464 days ago by Profile Adrian SchoriProject donor
I guess you're right, Michael. There was something else running, maybe associated with the OS update. I checked the activity monitor yesterday, but I could not find anything suspicious. Over the last night the runtimes of the GNF-19 tasks went down without doing anything and are the same now as before the OS update. Thank you and Yves for your support.
8) Message boards : Generalized Fermat Prime Search : Longer runtimes for GFN-19 tasks after update to macOS Sierra (Message 109236)
Posted 465 days ago by Profile Adrian SchoriProject donor
I updated my iMac from OS X El Capitan to macOS Sierra 10.12.6 yesterday. Since then the runtime for GFN-19 tasks increased from 3.45 h to 5.5 h. I used the newest CUDA driver before the update already.

Example before the update: http://www.primegrid.com/result.php?resultid=833789652

Example after the update: http://www.primegrid.com/result.php?resultid=833894912

Any ideas what could be the reason for that?
