Thanks for the quick response. I'll leave it on for now, since I turned off everything except TRP Sieve since it's going out of style. Wanted to badge up while I had the chance!

:)

Any recommendations on whether to enable/disable?

I've got two quad-core Xeons. Currently running them with hyperthreading enabled (~16 tasks at a time).

Is this the most efficient (as far as credit/time) way to go? Or should I disable it?

I'm scanning it for additional info, but I had used this guide originally:

The thing is, the only way I was able to get the manager to connect to the daemon was as root. Say I open a terminal and typed 'boincmgr' it would load, but wouldn't connect to the daemon (running at localhost). Say I opened a terminal then switched user to root and typed 'boincmgr' it would load, but still wouldn't connect to the daemon. The only way I was able to get it to load AND connect, was to open a terminal, switch to root, cd /usr/bin, THEN run boincmgr. I had to have /usr/bin as my working directory AS root before loading it or it wouldn't connect.

So I set up a script I'm lauching it from now:

cd /usr/bin && sudo boincmgr

and all is working fine.

I also did

chown boinc:boinc /var/lib/boinc/cc_config.xml

and boincmgr still isn't picking up the config file.

So that's where I am now, BOINC is running fine, but I can't get it to recognize a config file. The only reason I want the config file anyway is to setup exclusive applications, but it's not a big deal to pause it when needed.

So the only thing I really wanna know is will running as opengl or opencl be faster/slower or make any kind of difference?

I'm using gentoo linux and had the option

eselect opengl set nvidia

or

eselect opencl set nvidia

the opencl one said CUDA/OpenCL so i chose that

did i do right? (i'm assuming so cause it's running a WR task right now)

also, does anyone have experience getting the cc_config.xml file to be read in linux? boinc's folder in gentoo is /var/lib/boinc...and i have a cc_config.xml in there, but everytime i load BOINC and look at the event log...it keeps saying "No config file found...using defaults."

Some cards come overclocked from the factory. Try underclocking it to the speed of the reference card for that model...might clear up any issues. I had some trouble with my GTX 560 Ti until I did that.
