It is certain that all the bets that were given before the start of the challenge were too low.

Pre-challenge primegrid discord I hevily over estimated 121 and Tern was bang on at 97.

This was by far the most cloud I've ever used. By a factor of over ten. I would've been top 70 without cloud and i came 13th with. But my best performing instance which cost me $0.011 an hour would've finished 290th by itself. My worst performing one (same price) would've been 364th

Local price is $0.0506 usd/kwh. I was trying to come up with the cheapest example for someone to get into PG. A used $60 computer is going to be an optiplex style buisness pc like a 6500t. Again or they could spend less the $0.30 on a cloud instance and compete in the challenge.

You seem to want sympathy? someone could be living in 34 degree weather (93F) in a one bedroom apartment and spend $0.27 USD on cloud computing to participate and top 300 this event. OR you could go on a used seller buy a used computer for $60 and spent $0.09 cents a day (local kwh pricing which is way lower then anyone in Europe) to heat their tiny area. That way you didn't "buy" your win? You're correct, we should enforce gatekeeping! Also kick Syracuse university out at the same time. They aren't even a "person".

bcavnaugh - computer 1106441 seems to be 50/50... I think a big problem is how tasks are listed. It's not random, but the tasks list are more fast checks listed up front and more firsts near the back and when we're doing 1000+ tasks it's impossible to check without scripting our actual ratio. If you go to your account and look at your tasks and times elapsed. In my case computer 1168295 at this time is running gfn 18. Last 24 hours 43 tasks averaging elapsed time of 1972 seconds. 43*1972 / 60 / 60 = 23.554 hours were spent on firsts. 0.445...6 hours were spent on fast checks and a "44th first".
This doesn't give you a actual task ratio but it does give you a time ratio. so if it's truly 1/64th as fast then I'm "unlucky" as I'm 1.85% of the time doing fast dc's when I should only be 1/64 = 1.5% of the time.
So yeah account page tasks*elapsed time/60/60= hours a day on firsts.
(It's super late here and I've been up for 18.5 hours so if my math is wrong please correct me and I'll read it tomorrow)

Its mostly too late now but if you wanted any tdp prime. Gfn16 on cpu for the first time would have been your best bet. With fast dc its not a problem that a cpu is much slower then a gpu in time per task. Also gfn 16s are magnitudes easier to find then the pps you had been searching for. However if you got lucky that pps would've got you more then 1 badge. I did get lucky myself. I think i had a 24%~ish(asterisk*) napkin math chance of getting a gfn 17 all month long. But i got it two weeks in.
It's a little disheartening to hear so much woe is me. I don't have a supercomputer so its unfair. Or other person has a supercomputer that's unfair. Setting and achieving attainable goals is going to be important if you don't want to get burnt out. I am not even in the top 1000 pg participants, im not even close. But I'm having a blast especially with fast DC. Imagine being the DC on a top prime even though you were faster because the server sent you the task second. The playing field is more level then it's ever been.

That admin is quick with words. Not that they are "pissed off" just that's "their hand" (in terms of typewriter speak). But yes multi-year warnings were sent, but depending on your activity ot join date (mostly activity) you might not have realized. Honestly happy to have thought out questions posted myself, regardless of how many times its been discussed before. If you posted " why doesn't xp work for everything?" I'd tell you the titan xp only work on gpu projects. Hahaha

Vista was scary 😨 but windows 10 is fine. Or if its more a philosophical or sociological belief system preventing the update, linux has many options.

A record that will likely remain, assuming the individual was 16 or younger it'd be difficult with current laws to beat.
