If you can run a wire discreetly, it may be worth the effort :)

It's not that it can't be done, it's just a really crappy dirty job to do it. But I've gotten lazy in my old age. I used to string wire and not use wireless. Security wise wire is the only way to go. But it's probably going to be what I have to do next spring.

and now have a test box with a 1060 on a UPS runing a gfn 21 in the garage with wifi set to metered. The object being to see if that takes care of the reboot issue. Meanwhile I need to get a wifi range extender.

[quoteWas going to recommend ups, not for backup power aspect, they also smooth out and help with those fluctuations. But you knew that already :) [/quote]

lol, yup. After getting the computer back in here, I think there was an update trying to run, 1906?? I think is the long one. Anyway, finished the update and set the network to metered, heh heh that should stop anymore surprises too. The box is a win home version so can't postphone the updates. And that dyfl is now at 41%.

Okay, the garage. A rough night for the computer. A couple items right off the bat. First is I've gotta either run a network cable under the house, or get a wifi range extender. I thought I'd be smart and just leave the 2070 out in the garage running without a good network as the dyfl was already downloaded. Well there must be power fluctuations as the computer rebooted itself. Two times last night. Was zero problems in the computer room with that system. So anyway I brought the system back into the computer room to try and get the dyfl going as it's only at 40% and should have been about done. Fun and games. :-)

So the next game is to put a battery ups out the and run a system off that and see about resets then. Was bored anyway and needed something to keep the mind busy. :-)

I should have a dyfl coming in today, and some 21's also. Another dyfl on a 1660 won't be in for like another day and 17 hours. My grand plan in the garage has wifi strength issues.... gotta get a range extender.

ah, whatta rat race. Looks like I'm gonna have to get a range extender. Things aren't going quite as I had hoped. Slowly getting bugs worked out. haha. Looks like some of those high output teams are shooting past us.

Pretty good but about 60 to 70% what i thought it would have. Still its an enterprise class machine, so i don't have to worry about it bursting into flames :) i built a server 6 year ago with 8 gpus and permanently worried about it burning the building down.

Coming down with flu so feel like crap too .. ugh.

A lot of the flu going around here too. Hope you get to feeling better. :-(
