1) Message boards : Generalized Fermat Prime Search : DO YOU FEEL LUCKY? (Message 125853)
Posted 766 days ago by Profile Scott Cox
Sure : I found a PPSE before starting TdP!

As the doublechecker of that PPSE, I don't feel as lucky
2) Message boards : Sophie Germain Prime Search : First Prime (Message 123254)

Completed tasks 3120
Credit 124,570.16
Primes found 1
Percentage of tests resulting with a prime 0.0321

Just found my first SG prime this afternoon. Is a nice project to run before long challenges like GFN-21 coming up.

Partial solar eclipses never get as much media attention (or scientific study/viewing!) as the full or annular eclipses. Does anyone live near enough to catch a view? There's also the yearly Perseid meteor showers tonight.

I just crunched my first AP20 and I was also wondering about this. (Data/info for lower APs)

Ah yes, should be

Nice catch haha. Would like to work on Prime Sierpinski Problem and the other conjecture tasks some day too

First gold badge, mostly from crunching during Tdp.

Thanks for this, would've known to set cache to 0 if I had read the first post a little closer, lol
10) Message boards : Number crunching : 2018 Tour de Primes (Message 115557)

I meant to be crunching the tasks that had the best probability of finding a prime. I remember thinking "that's not how probability works" when applying it to the number of tasks I've done, because you're right there is no memory involved, just luck. But I was thinking more along the lines of probabilities and averages. (Hence why I was searching for SGS before the tour.) It would be nice to be able to analyze the prime distributions more accurately, but with the need to purge data on composites as Michael Goetz mentioned it may be hard to realize that endeavor. I (and others from what I've read) may be making some mistakes.

I am still learning the ropes of BOINC and PrimeGrid apparently - I did not have cache set to 0 but hopefully I've fixed that now with BOINC and PrimeGrid settings. I didn't really think that would have effected the discoveries but I didn't think about it that much, was essentially just using default settings.

I am sure there's still errors for efficient number crunching in my settings somewhere, but so far I haven't been the discoverer or double-checker of anything so better late than never I suppose for not caching tasks. Still have a lot of mechanics (and math!) for me to learn I'm sure. At least I am posting now. First few months of participating in this project have been very worthwhile.
