1) Message boards : Problems and Help : GPU computation error for geforce 1080 ti on genefer projects (Message 124091)
Posted 228 days ago by No.15Project donor
I had a very similar problem with my card. I fixed it by using ddu to remove all of the old drivers https://www.wagnardsoft.com/
and installing drivers 398.11 from nvidia. I went through about 3 drivers before I found one that worked. Make sure you turn off windows driver update, you can do it with the tool I linked

Over 2.6 hours has gone by and no one has turned in a result yet????
I thought some computer would be running with "-t bazillion" in app_config.xml

I'll be lucky to have one in at 12 hours :)
3) Message boards : Sieving : Basic math question for b value (Message 112712)
Posted 598 days ago by No.15Project donor
Yes the first explanation is what I meant although I did wonder about the cmd line b value as well.

I think I got it, I'll read it a few times and try and get a good picture of what it is doing. I'll see if I can read some stuff on mathworld as well.

Thanks!

So I am new to this but I am determined to learn the math behind the different projects at primgrid.

Currently I am doing sieving for gfn22 and would like to understand how the b value affects the computation. Can someone point me to a primer or explain it in high school math level terms. I am sorry for my denseness but HS math was +25 years ago for me :)

Got my first PSA badge (it quickly turned silver :))
6) Message boards : Number crunching : Winter Solstice Challenge (Message 112626)

I am having an issue on 2 machines where I abort the cpu task but it still continues to run. Boinc shows them as aborted but in task manager they are still there. A reboot took care of it but I wanted to post just in case this is a bug or others run into it but are unaware.

Both machines were win 10 btw :(

It amazes me that PPS Sieve is worth so much more points than the other tasks I usually crunch. My top computer has jumped almost 70 places in the rankings since this challenge started :)

uhg. cpu tasks are slow huh? My older cpu's have an estimated time of 36 hours :-P
9) Message boards : Proth Prime Search : PPS sieve question (cpu) (Message 112399)
Posted 608 days ago by No.15Project donor
I think the answer is no but I thought I would check.
On PPS sieve can it be set to use multiple cores on a cpu or is it 1 core per task only?
10) Message boards : General discussion : Titan V coming soon (Message 112212)
Posted 617 days ago by No.15Project donor
There's a difference here. Most other Titans apart from very early ones weren't based closely off the pro cards. The pro features were removed, and they were only slightly higher performance consumer cards. The V returns to those old days, and does offer some of the pro level features, for those that can make use of them. From a prime finding perspective, the high FP64 rate might be interesting, although the up front cost of course will be a barrier to most.

What projects would benefit? GFN 22 I think but I don't know what ones use DP
