1) Message boards : Proth Prime Search : Computation Errors - XML Error (Message 28741)

FWIW-

I was having a similar issue just now - I noticed that all the PrimeGrid tasks had failed with computation errors. I forced an update, got a new batch of work units, and each one failed with a computation error within a few seconds of starting.

I have an nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS and I'm running Windows XP 64-bit on an Intel Core2 Quad Q6700.

I power-cycled the machine and now the newly downloaded work units are processing ok (so far).

Found a stuck process on another machine. What made me check was that the machine was very sluggish. After stopping the errant PrimeGrid process, things returned to normal.

I am therefore stopping all work on PrimeGrid until I hear this has been fixed.

The PrimeGrid processes are not stopping even though all activity is suspended according to BOINCmgr.

According to Task Manager, there are 10 primegrid_sr2si processes running, each using 100MB of RAM and about 9% of the CPU, thereby consuming all available resources. While they are running at low priority, the memory usage is affecting performance.

I'd like to terminate the stuck processes, but I don't want to risk losing the current work unit which is about 90% complete after 143 hours. Any advice?

Thanks
Tom
