It's most likely because of hyperthreading. If you ran 3 tasks with 2 threads, i.e. for 6 cores, you might see an improvement in time. When llr has to run on both logical threads of a core it's much less efficient. Usually you want to either use only 50% of cpu or turn off hyperthreading when doing llr tasks. Also, going from 1 to 2 cores for ppse, and any 'small' tasks, usually doesn't increase the throughput in any good way. Hopefully that makes sense.
