Some questions from a newbie

I agree with most of what is said. That in mind, there are a couple of subprojects that do work OK together with the same number of threads, because the sizes of the work are similar. One examples of this is CUL and WOO.

As always I am an optimist. Even shutting down for a week for vacation, I am pounding out about 2 GFN-22 and 6 CUL each day hoping to get that large one again this year. Here is hoping I hit one of those two elusive projects.

Badge colours

No, they would quickly see which ones were the lowest score so it would be easy to choose what project to run. I don't know if my SOB or my PPS SV is lowest. Beyond bronze silver gold I can't remember.
Your account page and the badge page is for that information. The badges that everyone sees is better if uniform. If they are jumbled and a new person came on and looked, they would think that this is a mess and may thing twice about sticking around. I also like the current way, because even though I have been crunching here for many years, the alphabetic approach looks clean to me. I don't want child's toy blocks just thrown all over the place.

Badge colours

For the credit badges, I can see the different shaped ones clearly are higher versions. But I'd prefer the colours in say an order from dark to light. Ah well, I guess it's set up to the gemstone system and changing it would infuriate the world! Maybe they should also change very slightly in size?
Badges have been around for a very long time. They actually started at different projects, so the colors were somewhat determined by that. Originally they were just Bronze/Silver/Gold, like the Olympics, etc. But as project grew, they knew they needed more and then added the gem colors.
Not the most elegant system, but it is fairly universal across projects and there would be no use in changing them now.

They are going to have to make new Badges if you keep going like that!!
I wonder what the 3rd level of badges will look like?
I suspect they could flip the pentagon to have the point at the top, or add a hexagon, since it seems we are moving from 4 sided, 5 sided, 6 sided...

Should there not be less than 6 hours on the clock? I thought midnight to midnight? Or is it really Noon to Noon?

I don't often post anymore, but I got my 3rd double badge.
My current goal is to slowly work on most of the available double badges. Just wish the LLR could go GPU.

This type of feeder system has been in operation for years at different sites and has been brought up before. You can find older messages about it. Often times in is in an environment that may have specialized firewalls in place and can do the work inside these firewalls, but the feeder is just a feeder and it does not crunch, so it has access outside the firewall. I heard of some companies/schools that only allow this type of processing.
