I just signed up with Vultr and their promo involving $100 free credit.

Anyone interested can follow the following link: https://www.vultr.com/?ref=8397007 ... I will receive a $10 credit for each recruit for their promo.

It will be interesting to see which strategy is best for PPS Mega: four cores per unit (ie you) or two cores per unit but twice the number of units (ie me).

I also checked into some of the more dominant players like DeleteNull, 288larsson and Scalise .... mixed bag of strategies (Scalise is at one unit per core).

I'm setting my systems up so that it will run only one per system and hopefully NOT get a 2nd way before it's ready to run. This I hope cuts down on the time it actually gets sent to finished. However to each his own as I think one of the bigger factors is pure luck.

Yes, the two-minute delay in the start time due to the download is indeed a problem. I have had examples where that two minutes did me in.

I do know that the gfn16's are going to explode once I move everything to them. I have some running now as well as some ppse's. I'm not going for credit I'm going for primes :)

Same here ... primes and just primes.

I just noticed this morning I was a dc on a mega.. dang it ! When I saw that the counter had gone up I wasn't thinking a mega.

I check two or three times per day: https://www.primegrid.com/primes/primes.php?project=ALL&factors=+&only=ALL&announcements=ALL&sortby=date&dc=yes&search=.

Guess I've never visited this page. Thanks for the link and now it's bookmarked. Takes a while to load.

Mine loads very fast (cache or no cache).

AWS spot instances 1$ per hour for 96 threads
I may launch some.

I will keep this in mind for SGS which is "rough". Better on someone else's machine(s) than mine!

ps AA - how soon can I expect my winning prize?

See you next week with TdP.

It has been a GREAT month so far for primes personally. Just last night, primary checker on two PPSE's and one GFN15. I now have finds (as primary checker) with SGS, PPSE, GFN15 and GFN16. I am now running GFN17 Low and GFN17 High.

pps - if not for the new equipment, you'd have covered me in dust

It is the bottom line that counts. Sugar-coating means very little (at this point).

In looking at my run times with HT off, it is quite obvious that I seriously blundered in not spending the time to turn HT on .... now done on all of my machines!

... but if AA seems to be giving me a run I will add more.

I will leave my systems with HT off since I am currently running PPSE and Mega ... too much of a problem with re-enabling HT and then back off again when the 24 hrs are up. Part of my problem is the fact the challenge starts at 02:00 AM local time which makes the HT on/off a nuisance.

All of my systems are under "School" in the Prefs .... at 02:00 AM the tick box goes to 321 Sieve and I am done.

PPSE for me just to get the first prime and the P2020 badge itself. Thereafter, I will probably park on MEGA for hopefully additional badges (Mega and TdP Mega).
