Yep! Looks like that was the problem!

Is there anywhere in BOINC where issues and notifications appear? For example if a network transmission doesn't work is there anywhere it is logged?

Thanks for the help!

Hey there guys!

I'm clearing out some old WU's before I start any new ones - cannot really do much until I replace a faulty memory module that is causing issues.

I've got a work unit that will simply not upload. I have checked the connection settings, they are all fine. It also will not download any new tasks (I enabled this in order to try and force the task to be uploaded). I have tried manually forcing an update and that also didn't help.

Does anyone have a clue what is going on here and how I can shift this work unit? If it helps the WU is psp_llr_174307289_2

Any advice most welcome.

I'm not sure why I didn't think of that.

Looks like one of the memory modules in the computer is faulty, I'm getting sent a replacement.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'd have been here scratching my head for ages otherwise!

Hey guys!

Maybe you can provide some insight. I'm getting a lot of these today, wasn't happening yesterday - not that I saw.

I'm getting several tasks that are returning with computational errors citing this line:

(unknown error) - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005)

Anyone have any clue what is causing it and how I can try to rectify it? It's really bugging me.

I've suspended the processing until I get this sorted, an example task is this one: http://www.primegrid.com/result.php?resultid=472958504

Edit:

Additional noted of relevance.

My CPU isn't running hot, its nice and cool actually. It also isn't over taxed, I'm using only half the capacity for these tasks.

This also doesn't seem to happen to every one of the tasks, just enough to get my attention. This baffles me even more, if it were an issue every time I'd have had more of an idea what was wrong.

Ah, well that makes sense then. Thanks for the reply.

Hi everyone!

A lot of my submitted tasks are listed as "suppressed pending completion" and I have no idea what this means - can someone enlighten me please?

Can't really say no to such a good cause. Done too.
8) Message boards : Sophie Germain Prime Search : Found one! (Message 25571)

Just got confirmation from the system that my PC found one:

Congratulations! Our records indicate that a computer registered by you has
found a unique prime number. This computer is running BOINC, is attached to
the PrimeGrid project, and is assigned to the Sophie Germain Prime Search. What makes
this prime unique is that it's large enough to enter the Top 5000 List in Chris Caldwell's
The Largest Known Primes Database.

Since you have auto-reporting selected, the following prime was submitted on your
behalf:

Added 94172 : 7318825406445*2^666666-1 (200701 digits)

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me and we will surely resolve any
problem.

I'm quite pleased about that, I think this is my first prime so far.

Ah I see. I must have missed that thread, did do a search - oops.

It would be nice to see GPUs in use, I've got 2 graphics cards that, at the moment anyway, are just sitting there doing nothing :)

Thanks for the reply and the welcome.

Hi guys!

Just a question for the devs out there that work on this project (if any of them even read the general sections!). Are there any plans to use some sort of GPU processing to help with the crunching for PrimeGrid?

It seems that with more and more people using more powerful graphics cards it is a valuable resource that could be exploited, especially not that BOINC can interface with CUDA enabled cards.

If they can use GPUs for accelerated Wi-Fi password breaking, there must be a use in crunching for it right?

All input welcome.
