We are where we would have discovered the prime 13*26481780 + 1 if it had not been discovered (outside PrimeGrid) in March. /JeppeSN

jeppeSN does this mean that those outside Primegrid will get to any consequential finds before we do as they are ahead of us?

Or does it mean that the numbers we are searching are condensed down so that Primegrid has a better chance putting us ahead of the outside cruncher chances of beating us to the mark?

Or is it just random pot luck who may be first?

Just wondering:)

When you say a ways to go, do you have any rough estimates on how long taking into consideration how many GFN-17 low are completed on average....also could we speed it up with a concentrated effort from a lot of us and would this get us moving onto new things faster or would it still be a very long way off? I like the thoughts Michael put forward actually and it sounds quite interesting

The "b" value on the GFN17 Low project goes up to a bit over 42 million, which is when it would catch up to the starting point for GFN17 Mega. GFN17 Low "b" is currently at just a bit below 20 million. In other words, all of our work on GFn17 Low has us at just less than half way done...we have a long way to go yet.

Thanks Scott worth a try and good to know:)

Thanks as well Michael....good information

I also miss the discussion that used to take place in many places here. I've (potentially naively) assumed that most of the discussion that used to take place in forum threads here is taking place elsewhere.

A fair amount of discussion happens in our Discord server.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new double check, as well as potentially to other new projects coming to play. That being said, while I do like seeing new projects added, it would be nice to see one or two of the existing projects wrapped up so that the computing power can be redirected to other projects. E.g. I generally put my GPU towards GFN-17-Low to see it catch up to where the mega prime search started. It's not a conjecture, but it would still be nice to end.

I'm looking forward to this too, though there's still a ways to go.

OMG....the blistering speed bit cracked me up David...LOL

Its either us aussies have a weird sense of humour or its just that I'm obviously a bit psychotic (definitely)

I love Primegrid even though its the most frustrating thing ever trying to get something on here

Er yeh I fluked a sneaky one this year...I was very lucky...basically I was doing better watching the grass grow in the back yard actually

Sorry you didn't get one mate, and to all the others who didn't as well, but we will all keep trying (gasps in exasperation)

Best thing is there is always some funny comment on here that always makes everything seem better every now and then mate, which keeps me going...lmao

regards....MAGPIE:)

What a shame...you guys have done an amazing job as this is definitely the best run project anywhere...youse are always there for any assistance or help, and might I add very quickly indeed.

Whomever takes over this role has some mighty big shoes to fill, which I for one don't think is going to be that easy.

Good luck guys on whatever youse do in the future, and hopefully you will pop in from time to time on the boards as I'm sure you will still have a personal interest in how things are going regardless.

Best wishes........MAGPIE:)

I gotta tell y'all I have been so hyped for the Tour de Primes. I was super disappointed I only got a double check last year, but that machine was slow as all getout. My new machine is plowing through the PPSEs like nobody's business so I think I got a shot. I can't wait for that sweet, sweet taste of prime discovery, I really think it might happen this year.

I... don't have a lot else going on in my life.

I just had a look and you are getting a lot of 1st in PPSE mate

I reckon you have agreat chance this year, so keep persisting and best wishes:)
