The server has been unreachable for a couple of hours, any idea when it will be back please ?

If you go to go to the Challenge leaderboard and look for users that have 5 times or more tasks than their neighbors, they're probably DC task hunting, and aborting a lot of tasks.

DC tasks are also a lot lower in credit. It takes ~130 DC tasks to get the same credit as a main task. Plus with these large tasks, how can there be enough DC tasks to keep up with the demand this type of hunting. It would have to be done 24/7 and the guarantee to get DC tasks with the amount of Main tasks out there would never have enough credit. Yes the number of tasks would be large, but the credit would be small. If you look at the last update 30K+ has been sent out, that counts both Main and DC tasks. Yes 10K+ has been aborted, but that means those 10K do not have DC tasks yet, so only ~20K are live, of that maybe half are DC. 10K DC tasks are not going to put someone on the leaderboard, and as has been proven by admins of the system, DC tasks are going to other people. I have had many myself. I also have older tasks still waiting for their DC to return, which does not look like they would have gone to DC miners.
Think about the logistics before making assumptions.

As Michael has stated in each update including the last one...

Challenge: Once In a Blue Moon
App: 8 (PSP-LLR)
Fast DC tasks are NOT included.
(As of 2021-08-19 06:52:18 UTC)

30783 tasks have been sent out.

This host: https://www.primegrid.com/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1057098 is getting a lot of tasks without returning any...

They are still going !
PrimeGrid doesn't have the ability to stop giving tasks to a host that never returns any results ?

Thanks.

Could depend on how long T5K stays down and not accepting finds.
I could be wrong but I think the time/date of reporting on T5K dictates the order rather than the time/date actually found ?
If that's the case it might be reported as the 1000th when it wasn't ;)
5) Message boards : Number crunching : LLR2 installed on all big LLR projects (Message 148217)

What does "Suspending noisy messages for 4 hours" in the stderr output mean ?
It was seen twice for a WOO task that completed and got credit.

TV on too loud, checking my emails too often, PrimeGrid sending out too many Prime find notices to Boinc Manager ?
What does the LLR2 code think is upsetting its progress ?

Thank you, there's still that obligatory second one left to find, just waiting for stream to post that it is unlikely to happen first !

A quick success!

On 17 Dec 2020, 12:38:09 UTC, PDW found a prime 10841645805132531666786792405311319418846637043199917731150000^16384+1 (at bmin+5920). Congratulations!

As you can see, bmin is very small. If workunit wasn't timed out and aborted twice before PDW grabbed it, the prime could be found on the first day of the search.

Main goal of project is reached, first GFN-14 MEGA Prime found. Project will be active and new work will be loaded for 3 months since day of the start, until 05 March 2021.

Thank you :)

3rd time lucky, 1st and 2nd would be kicking themselves if they knew who they were.

That's also my 2021 goals met a year early :D

If you want a mega prime, i.e. one with more than 1 000 000 digits

Correction: one with at least 1 000 000 digits

:-)

In 2021, more than 1000 megaprimes will be known, there is no doubt about that: a mega is not a challenge anymore.

Really ?
Having got the smallest megaprime I was aiming for an even smaller one in 2021 !

Unless there is an upsurge in work being done the 22% that remains to be done at the moment won't be completed in time, we are doing less than 1% a day.
Just wondering why you would close the search down when so close to finishing (as it will be in 22 days time) ?
I'm not saying you should or even asking if you could extend the deadline, just why you wouldn't.
