That is a neat signature. It looks like it's through BoincStats.

Also, because we now have 1000 Primeidians, all of the link options are available. The last one was just activated:
PrimeGrid City Commerce

It just occured to me that the name "Primeidians" sounds like an alien race. Like something from Star Wars or Trek.

Its a custom Sig I made. There's also one for Seti City:

Clicking on the picture in my sig takes you to PrimeGrid city. The link is

http://www.primestats.net/city.php?city=primegrid

And it automatically chooses the sector that needs clicks! It just reads the XML file first and takes you to something below 100% or population if they are all OK.

Interesting graphs for Woodall as the challenge nears the end!

Multithreading is slated for release in BOINC 6.4 last I heard.

The FAQ really only applies to existing applications, but if an app is specifically designed for multithreading and the algorithm requires little synchronization/data sharing between threads, then splitting the workload would be perfectly fine. It would help in BOINC because it can bring down computational latency for projects which want results quickly, and can help cut down on run time for projects with longer running workunits.

Historical data collection has been enabled and credit/WU/hits charts for each user split by subproject will be displayed in a few days.

The domain of the PrimeGrid stats has been changed. You can now find them at:

http://www.primestats.net

In addition, I'm in the process of rolling out some new features in the next few days. One of them that's already in place is the addition of a subproject breakdown in the user stats pages. Just do a user search to bring up your user stats page.

PrimeGrid once ran the primegen project which actually did a comprehensive sequential search of all numbers from 3 on up. You can torrent the final results here. The page indicates that the upper bound for the numbers is 210 000 000 000. However, thats minuscule compared to the numbers searched by Cullen-Woodall/TPS/etc., because primes of certain specific forms can be checked much more efficiently.

The primegen project was retired though and I am unaware of anyone else who is continuing to do a sequential search and/or searched a larger space than PrimeGrid.

Can anyone clarify what 'min remaining number' on the Server status page means with relation to the values of k/n?

This stat is not really suited for the PPS search since there are so many k's being searched.

k*2^n+1

Odd k's are being searched sequentially from 5 to 1199 for a 20K n range. We are currently on the 200K<n<220K range.

The 'min remaining number' is just the lowest remaining n for the moment.

Thanks for the info!

Updates to the XML were stuck a few weeks due to a problem in the stats import script that I didn't find out about until a few days ago (oops!) The problem caused 'user not found' errors on the PG toplists as well.

XML should be updating now though.
