If that is how fast the 4090's are we have entered a new age. I understand the project is scored by the wu's value and not the speed. However it does help if one can do 1000 a day versus 1/10th.

Miklos,

Again, those times are not real. If they were using a GPU, it's likely that system could have run the boinc client from the repository. I imagine they were running a custom CPU app. BTW, a RTX 3090 Ti can turn around a DYFL WU in about 15 hours. I can't imagine a RTX 4090 is significantly faster than the RTX 3090 Ti.

If the credit remains many others will do the same and the point system will have to be revised or abandoned?

The run time and cpu time stats are faked but the result is apparently legit. I'm sure the project admins are aware of this custom app and have blessed it

On the Discord channel, Magic Mike commented on the computer and is aware of how it works. I assume Magic Mike is either Michael Gutierrez or Michael Goetz, both are project admins.

There were no details about the computer or app that actually completed any of the WUs but it wasn't actually the 4 thread computer where the tasks are listed. That 4 thread computer acts as an interface that feeds the actual computer(s) WUs because there is no Boinc application for that computer(s) hardware-OS combo. DYFL actually doesn't have CPU app. Dunno. The actual app could be something like the current GPU app for DYFL but written for the Nvidia Jetson GPUs that be used on raspberry pi's and other SBCs. That would make a lot of crunchers happy if an app were released that ran on those

So the run time and cpu time reported are not real and the actual run time was probably 11-12 days? I didn't know a WU result could be constructed with fake stats and pass validation but I guess the project admins are aware of how it works and it's all legit.

There is answer on discord: that computer is just gateway from computer that process WU.

Do you have a link to that discord post? I'd like to read it. Or what channel and when was it posted?

I get this error:

13/12/2019 6:33:10 PM | PrimeGrid | Entry in app_config.xml for app 'genefer', plan class 'cpuGFN21' doesn't match any app versions

If you haven't downloaded any of the GFN 21 CPU WUs (and apps) you'll get that but I don't think it affects anything.

<app_config>
<app_version>
<app_name>genefer</app_name>
<cmdline>-nt 8</cmdline>
<plan_class>cpuGFN21</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>8</avg_ncpus>
</app_version>
</app_config>

...

PrimeGrid 12/11/2019 2:03:27 PM Your app_config.xml file refers to an unknown application 'genefer21'. Known applications: ...

There is nothing wrong with the app_config above. The unknown application is "genefer21" , which is not referenced in the above code. The in-memory version of app_config did contain such a reference. Perhaps you had not reloaded the config file when you got the message?

Query : Is 'genefer21' even a known application anymore? Or is that just the GPU application?

The app_name is just genefer. I use this app_config.xml to control threads on GPU and CPU WUs.
<app_config> <project_max_concurrent>2</project_max_concurrent> <app_version> <app_name>genefer</app_name> <cmdline>-nt 27</cmdline> <plan_class>cpuGFN21</plan_class> <avg_ncpus>27</avg_ncpus> </app_version> <app> <name>genefer</name> <max_concurrent>3</max_concurrent> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>1</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>1</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> </app_config>

BTW, how do you register for this challenge? I couldn't find how to do that. And where are the stats?

Dumping CCC 14.4 and installing 14.9 and APP SDK v2.9.1 seems to have fixed it

All the (Generalized Fermat) AMD GPU WUs are getting an Error while computing running on this system http://www.primegrid.com/show_host_detail.php?hostid=514488

It's an i7-3770, HD 7970 running Win7 64 SP1 and CCC 14.4. Is there other software that needs to be installed or do I need to upgrade CCC?[/url]
