1) Message boards : Sophie Germain Prime Search : Sophie Germain Prime Search (Message 113624)

So let me understand (about pairs)...

Scott discovered a Sophie Germain prime (=2618163402417*2^1290000-1) on 2016-02-29 05:39:14 UTC.
The server did the test of 2p+1 (=2618163402417*2^1290001-1) for him and it was found to be prime.
The discoverer is still Scott.
Two primes for the price of one!

And the test of (p-1)/2 (=2618163402417*2^1289999-1) was done too, but it was not prime.

The SGS pair and twin prime badges may be even harder to get than the AP27 badge.

How can we discover an SGS pair?
Would calculation time be doubled if a prime is found because we run the test for k·2^1290000+1 too?
If yes, always when k·2^1290000-1 is prime or sometimes when another condition is true?

What other subprojects would give us the chance to discover twin primes? SGS pairs are twin primes, aren't?

Anyway looks like StarGate and/or SETI.Germany acronyms. LOL

This Bitcoin operation is in a barn. I think that solves his noise problem. The lettuce and the fish don't care.

Since I'm not a head of lettuce, I care. :(
Or are you suggesting me to turn into a fish? I would swim better.

My 4770k runs at 3.5GHz. I manually set at 2.0 or 2.5GHz when I sleep or just want silence. You can't manage this type of distortion. Maybe it's not a common behaviour, I don't know.

Yeah, it was the megaprime that some of us had been searching on December before the change of announcement policy. Now PPS megaprimes are not of interest to get PDF announcements. The recent badge idea is nice though.

I did ~3000 "megatests" between PPS and GFN17 on December, but nothing came out.

We would be double checkers during clean-up, though.

Totally agree.

Should we badly overclock all together just to see Inconclusive: A New Hope? :D

Seriously, I won't keep this pace up after the challenge. I think there are many other important BOINC projects to follow and crunch. Soon or later SoB double check will be completed. It doesn't matter when it will be.

Now it does make sense to me. ;)

@mackerel

I don't understand very well your 64k FFT results. Is there performance drop or performance gain?

before after % change 4c1w 10078.49 9625.22 -4.5

Are 10078 and 9625 times in seconds?
If so, I read that before time (10078s) is worse than after time (9625s).
There is a gain.

What's wrong with it?
10) Message boards : General discussion : A new Mersenne prime was found (50th known) (Message 112957)

Well, we know the discovered prime now!

2^77232917-1

It is 23,249,425 digits long.
