1) Message boards : Problems and Help : Selecting which GPU to use (Message 131164)

My cc_config.xml that is in my BOINC\projects\www.primegrid.com directory.

I think that's your issue.
I'm fairly certain that the cc_config.xml needs to be in the main BOINC directory and not in the project sub-directory.

Welcome!

You do have a really good computer there.
However, the AP and GFN tasks are failing on your computer. The common cause of this, when paired with Windows 10, is that Windows installed a video driver that is not suitable for this kind of work. So you will need to go to the nvidia website and download the newest official drivers for your video card and install them. Then you should be able to find primes on the GPU with the GFN projects.

On the forums there are sections for each type of task you can run here. Take a look at the sticky threads in those to see what kinds of primes each kind of project is looking for.

If it continues to work with Windows Updates paused then you can use Group Policy settings to disable automatic driver updates in Windows 10.

Usually Windows 10 will update drivers and break them. However, I'm not convinced that's the case here.
Try PPS-Sieve and see if that gives you errors.
I'd ask about running AP, but with 1GB of memory that card won't do AP.
Try cleaning out the dust in case temperatures are getting too high.
Try a program like Furmark and see if it gives you any visual artifacts.

With Windows 10 Enterprise you have the ability to pause updates.
Try reinstalling the official drivers with Windows Updates paused on the off chance that Windows is breaking the drivers on you.

Winter Solstice Challenge

According to the challenge post you also need a <plan_class> tag.

I always recommend testing to see what best suits your hardware.

That said, you have two CPU's with 36 physical cores. Those two CPUs have a link between them to transmit data. If you run a single task on all 36 cores then the task is split between the two CPU's and data will get hung up transferring between the two CPU's.
A better configuration would be running two tasks at a time on 18 cores each so that each task sits on a single CPU.

Given your observation about sub-50% CPU usage I can only guess that you would be able to do two units on 18 cores each in the same time as you can do 1 unit on 36 cores.

After that you can test various combinations of number of tasks versus number of cores to see what gives the most throughput of tasks or gives the fastest of individual tasks.

That's normal for the SoB double check.
Past results were imported from outside sources and we're verifying if those results are correct or not.

Any chance of warranty replacement on the 1080ti?
Even if you don't use it you can still resell the replacement card.

Judging by the lack of volunteers for the BOINC tests, as well as the length of time since we've needed to use app_info, I'm guessing some of you might benefit from a refresher course on how to set up anonymous platform. Do you think that would that be helpful?

I've never done app_info.xml before.
With a little help I'll happily do the Windows FMA3 tests for both single and multi-thread.
