Actually bunkering is downloading a massive amount of WU's as the project begins and then holding onto the completed tasks to make a massive dump of WU's and move up the ranks all at once.

Only WU's downloaded after the Challenge begins are tallied. So saving up results prior to the start won't help anyone.

while its nice to know that the system will eventually report back the work. However, This prevents me from running other projects that have long TAT. Primegrid/BOINC will ignore those tasks and fill(overfill) my Que to the point that once again I am forced to abort tasks.

I was mistaken. I actually received 49 tasks. The second grouping of tasks is slated for 2 days after the first grouping. The huge problem once again is the limited time to return tasks and the quantity of tasks.

your point 3. is not relevant. BOINC knows after so many runs how long a task takes to run. Primegrid WU's always seem to have the incorrect time assigned to them when I get them. Some either complete well before time others complete several hours after. My CPU isn't in control of how BOINC and Primegrid check times.

I don't OC and Don't have a heat problem. 45 C on water cooling is generally considered good. You assume that the problem is with my system and not the other computer involved.

BOINC/Primegrid is grossly overestimating my CPU's ability to complete tasks. I've been watching my account over the last couple of months I've found that I either have to abort the tasks or BOINC will eventually do it.

The problem is the BOINC/Primegrid insists on sending more work with very short TAT and I'm aborting more tasks.

I've got my system to have 0.25 days of extra work which shouldn't allow that much.

I aborted several tasks as they wouldn't be started by the deadline. BOINC immediately sent me 34 more tasks that expired on december 1. These tasks wont be started until the 29th of this month. I've done the best case scenario. thats 275 hours of work over 7 cores. thats about 39 1/4 hours of work in 48 hours. That only works if I don't play any video games (which I do) during that time. BOINC should see that it only has so many hours a day to run tasks and not attempt to fill every single moment with a WU.

A simple easy solution is to move back the TAT date by a few days. Thats for every project on Primegrid. I'm getting a bit tired of having so many abandoned WU's when its just so unnecessary. You guys are clearly wasting so much bandwidth as I've seen so many WU's just sit. I can't believe that everyone is just quitting the project and not completing the work. This appears to me to be a problem with attempts to overfeed CPU's and wasting both of our time.

I realize its been a bit from my initial post. I ended up discovering that I had to many things plugged into my surge protector. That was the main cause of my lockups.

2 days ago I discovered that my system was unable to read sectors on the SSD. I replaced that last night and cloned the drive over. I was lucky. The SSD was apparently on its last leg and took a few restarts to even bring it up to running. I've been running Milkyway and attempted to run Einstein on my GPU. My GPU or my PC didn't care for that and would crash my system. I've been crunching Milkyway after aborting the einstein work and havent had a problem.

Now I'd like to get PG going again. My dilemma is that the website does seem to want to send me work. This has been an ongoing problem for me. The only way I was able to get work was when I ran the project with the app_info.xml. I was able to run all the Genefer and any PG sub-project that had ATI/AMD attached to it.

Does anyone have an app_info for an ATI/AMD setup?

To start, my system crashed about 2 weeks ago. It appears that my motherboard took a dump. I replaced and updated the Mobo, CPU, and graphics cards. I updated the drivers for all 3 items. I did an sfc /scannow the system found an OpenCL file corrupted. It repaired this. I've checked and replaced the RAM with known good RAM.

I am getting Random crashes in BOINC and system lockups when I attempt to play modern video games after the update. The Lockups require a hard reset of the system. The event logs show no software failures.

One WU in question is here.

I'm not certain what to make of the WU crash and if its related to the system lockup. I'm thinking that the 2 are related.

Since the event is coming up I decided to try and run without an app_info on my 290X with the latest drivers released in December. Still no work fetch.

I tried editing your app_info to run all the apps on GPU.

I have the GPU apps I've changed the file to the GPU apps but when I start BOINC I get a message that stated that I couldnt get work.
I was wondering if this was editable for the GPU only or was I missing something.

Can you post BOINC Eventlog messages?
What tasks were you trying to get?
How did to edited app_info?

I can't give you the event log since I've already changed the app back to its previous rendition. However, the messages basically stated that the apps were duplicates of the WR. I then changed the WR app to version 3.08 and it stated that I didn't have the apps from my app_info in my primegrid folder.

I was trying to edit the app_info to allow the genefer 15, 16, 17low, mega, 18, 19, 20, and WR.

I basically copied your app and edited in the correct ATI GPU files using the 3.09 version of the apps so that each app_version was like the genefer but with the different versions of the Genefer for the GPU and not CPU.

Hi,

I notice a few people are able to run their CAL AMD Radeon (Tahiti) 3072MB series GPU's.

At present I am still unable to get my CAL (Hawaii) (4096MB) GPU to do any PrimeGrid tasks.

Tested card with Collatz & Moo Wrapper. Works on those tasks.

Have installed ATI Stream SDK (not sure if this was necessary, but did it anyhow.)

Would really love to be able to put this card to work here on PG.

Am I missing something, or is this series of card simply not compatible?

Thanks.

Jpeg

I had the same problem I added an app_info file and had to manually download the app files because the files wouldn't install when the project attached.

One thing I did find is BitDefender see the Primegrid apps as potentially harmful. I've added them to the white list and it seems to be doing fine now.
