Yeah! Sounds like an excellent excuse for a party.

(Not like we really need an excuse.)

Hiya Warped. :)

DoES hasn't posted in months but he still has a respectable RAC and his computer checked in on Jan 28th, Maybe I'll send him a PM and see if I can wake him up.

Hi Alan and Tim.

Nice to be back. Had a crazy, hectic, stressful 2009 but 2010 looks to be better!

I see there have been some changes. Still scratching my head about this badge business. Guess I'd better stay and crunch here awhile if I want to collect the whole set. :P

Thanks guys - we hijacked poor Kenzie's thread.

Anyway, I'll give it another bash. I'm using Thermaltake TG2, which I believe is pretty good stuff, and will certainly use less each time. Is it possible that the E6600 dual core is starting to die from abuse? It's run, not only PG LLR, but also SOB and GIMPS, all guaranteed to stress it to the extreme.

1: Don’t worry about hi-jacking the thread! S’all good!

2. Arctic silver: less is more. The ideal is to fill the microscopic gaps between the top of the CPU and the bottom of the heatsink plate. Scroll Down: I Probaably Used Too Much AS5

One problem that I did notice with my present version of Ubantu is that it seems to be using ony 2 of 4 cores to full potential. In the challenge, 2 of the cores were tossing off wu’s every 28 minutes or so, the other 2 were taking 45+ minutes.

Something that I need to see to before getting into heavy sieving again!

Hey, cool, I may have found a new top 5000 prime, but I am not sure yet.

Got an email, but it seems suspicious, so I sent out some emails and PM's to see about verifying things first.

Hi Kenzie -- You probably have the same email I had a couple of weeks ago asking you to change the password on your prime pages account so PG can submit your prime automatically -- I replied that I would rather report them myself (more fun I think) so you have to switch off auto report--- If you take this option make sure you switch off in all 4 locations (default, work etc) -- I missed one location and had a prime floating about for over a week (Number 38)--- all fixed now.

Cheers

DoES

I already sorted things out with John. S'all good. :D

Also:

Sorry about not posting so much the past month or so. Been busy with personal/family stuff. A work in progress.

On a happy note: By the end of May I plan to be crunching mostly for PG and Einstein. I have been making some hardware and software modifications to Q-Baby, and have been using the brain-trust at SETI NC forum for help. (No offence, but IMHO they are the best tech-help team on the planet) and felt that I ought to be crunching there for the duratiuon. After all, I am using their resources, so I'd feel guilty if I wasn't crunching for them . . .

Anyway, as soon as I have my little quad's issues sorted out, Q-Baby will be in attendance here at least 50% of the time. :)

[edit] Just swapped PM's with John. S'all good. Q-Baby found herself a top 5000 prime!!! Yay![/edit]

Hmm, okay, thanks. Something to think about for after the challenge.
