Uh oh... I'm going to have to put this project on my "to do™" list now...

have only been crunching during challenges, but now I gotta collect some badgers...

Well, once I get all the Christmas lights at WCG colored up to that pretty blue color, anyway.

Nice work !

;)

Steven...good idea...might have to slide one of them into the basket next time I go tool shopping...

P.S. Re: your avatar: Did you get the puppy trained yet? Or is he peeing on a Vista lapper??? <grin>

hehe, I am ashamed to admit it.. but it's just a random image I "borrowed" from the internet. Though I've been debating on changing it lately. So we will go with the assumption it's a Vista box :)

If I find anything interesting with the IR gun, I'll post it, but it is something that I have been meaning to do for a while anyway to look for hotspots, and see if anything else should be addressed, but after this challenge, it's kind of renewed my interest in doing so.

I don't know what the 'f' happened to that host...usually it is one of my best and most reliable PCs, but seems to have gone off the deep end...

Just wish there was more info as to why the task was invalid. I might be able to pinpoint the problem. Seems like a lot of work and no credit on my end...Sorry guys....

One direction to look, the north bridge / memory controller on many of my PC's saw temperatures during this challenge a full 10C higher than I have ever recorded with any other kind of WU.

I kept pretty close tabs on memory controller (and other) temps, and modified the cooling for them on a few hosts during the challenge. I think this was pretty key, since other temps were "normal" and (so far) I have not had any invalid WU's with 87 validated, and a dozen or so still pending. (4 errored mid-crunch because of other issues, but I know what the problem was there, well atleast for 3 of them that were taken out when an AQUA CUDA wu blew up.)

I will probably borrow an IR/laser pointer thermometer gun from work this week, or over the weekend, and crunch a few more of these WU types on hosts to see if any other chips might benefit from better cooling. Might even help to finalize the end of the challenge a little bit too. Will try out some of those little sticky back VGA/RAM heatsinks on any IC's that are running warm.

All my quad CPU's are running ~42-45 hours except the one on an Nvidia northbridge, the tasks there are running 55 - 63 hours.

Nvidia NForce 750i SLI
Windows 7 (x64)
2.66GHz Q8400
8GB DDR2-800
Intel Extreme SSD
Dual GTX 260

doesn't seem to make much of a difference running 3/1 or 4/0 with CUDA tasks running along side.

Well, an early, but I do not think premature congratulations to Seti Germany. +

WOW!!! What a great showing, that's some impressive fire power.

On a side note: Since the tasks began validating an hour early (now corrected) Does this mean they also stopped validating an hour early?

I only ask because The last batch I reported isn't showing yet, though I do not know if that is because of backlog. Just thought I would bring it up.

Great challenge all !

Well done !
