1M here,
without any GPU workunit.

I'm guessing it won't take long to get knocked out of the top 5000. ?

A couple of days. Once we are over 2^666667 they will be in the list a lot longer (at that poit we pass all sgs workunits with pps).

If my examinations are over (the 4th of february) I will take a look at it and see if I understand it and can help updating it.

I would love a real manual challenge, you can even do both sieve and prpnet at the same time, and at the end you can count the PSA-credits everyone would get for that work.
The fact that there everyone will only know their result at the end of the challenge can make it interesting.

Will primes found on PRPNet be listed with my others found on PrimeGrid?

No, this has been asked several times already.

Congratulations to the lucky prime-finders!
Let's try to find 10 primes before the challenge ends!
7) Message boards : General discussion : So which tasks are supposed to find megaprimes then? (Message 28774)

Actually, I had a question out in another forum before purchasing this PC:

Should I go for the Core i7 Extreme Processor or just select the Core i7 which was a little more than half the cost of the first one.

The answer I received was that I should not particularly do so, but rather look at other components in the system.

My experience is that an intel C2Q is price / quality better for primegrid than i7.
The main new features of I7 are hypertreading and turbo-boost combined with power and heat management. For primefinding we are using all our processorcores all the time, so the turbo-boost won't be used, and the hypertreading can be used, but sometimes it's better to stay with the real cores.

Can you tell me what the top sieve priorities are for CPU? I think I can use my cpu better than crunching PPS and RSP sieve workunits that are processed much faster with a GPU.
9) Message boards : Project Staging Area : Detailed stats for PRPNet (Message 27986)

PSA cobblestones for PRPNet will be suspended until we can determine what is happening. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Do you mean you'll give them all later, or do you mean we won't get any cobblestones (ever) for the work we are doing now?
10) Message boards : Project Staging Area : 32 bit vs. 64 bit pfgw (Message 27966)

Note that for some bases the difference is even greater, but for others it is less.

Is pfgw64 also faster as llr(32)?
