Low Country Festivities Challenge

Hi, I'll be happy to take some more wu, my concern right now is I have a wu 32+ hours in and about 48 hours left but it has like a 13 hours expiration. Should I abort this, or can I complete it?
Thanks,
Phil

Cheaters' credits rescinded

If results were faked, that means a significant amount of work will need to be redone / revalidated, correct?
Yes. Approximately one month's worth of PPS sieving needs to be redone. That work is being crunched now.
NP - Switching over to PPS-Sieve now... Too bad that folks feel they need to cheat in a production that is supposed to be for science and fun.

Hi - I'm back.
Though I can run the other projects fine, genefer will not run, thinking there is something to work on...
Start test of file 'work_GFN262144.in' - 08:26:12
Testing 945492^262144+1...
Checkpoint saved by another build of genefer (22 19). This version cannot restart with
[2013-02-19 08:26:13 PST] GFN262144: No data in file [genefer.log]. Is genefer broken?
after which it exits the program.
I am assigned these wu, how can I restart them? Thanks in advance.
Phil

Hi, while running Genefer 262144, I had a BSOD and now I cannot get my prp to start, I suppose that the bsod killed something vital in the project, my log files shows the following when I try to run:
[2013-02-17 11:16:11 PST] PRPNet Client application v5.2.2 started
[2013-02-17 11:16:11 PST] User name Raubhautz* at email address is phil@pnorman.net
[2013-02-17 11:16:11 PST] GFN262144: No data in file [genefer.log]. Is genefer broken?
The genefer.log file shows only the start time of the number in question; There are "work_GCW.save", "work_GFN262144.in" and "work_GFN262144.save" files in the working directory.
Is there any chance on getting this task restarted? If not, how best to clean this up?
Thank you in advance.

Is PRP server move in progress???

Thank you all for the reply, it looks like the last ports I was using are closed now (PPS/12000), it has been a few months since I was on. Should have checked the current projects! :/ Time to see what other projects I can do. Thanks again.

Hi, I have time to restart some of my prp projects, and found that the server is not up, or not responding. After adding other projects in order to get any work, they all failed. Further, a ping of the server(s) comes up empty.
Thanks in advance for your assist.

The Year of The Snake Challenge
(Message 61688)

If a PRP is found around 100k range, how long would it take to check primality?
Fortunately it won't take as long as it would have taken a year ago.
Running LLR on a that number on my C2Q would take about 18 days -- but there's faster CPUs and an AVX version of LLR, so I would guess 3 to 5 days on the fastest CPUs.
Thats what it takes to run genefer64. I thought llr was a much slower test. Good to know I was wrong.
That's my estimate for LLR. GenefX64 is, of course, faster (roughly 8 days on my machine running on one core. With all 4 cores going, it's running a lot slower, around 12-13 days. Either my estimates are off or the larger numbers are causing significant cache miss problems on this CPU.)
My momma always told me to do my homework --- The only reason I passed school is I excelled on exams... If I read this PRIOR to starting this challenge...
My 2 machines are normally very good performers on cpu wu's, so I committed one of my own sins and ASSumed they would be on task to handle these babies....
So after the challenge started and I got all my cpu queues cleared I loaded all 8 threads on both machines with Genefx64 wu, and knowing the challenge was still a week and a half to go, I just let BOINC run...
Then last night with 3 nights to go I was curious as to what the progress was, and to my chagrin, nothing above 52%; I crunched the #'s and nothing was going to complete in time!!! My rough calculation said that maybe 2 units MIGHT make it if I set to one core each machine... but even then, not likely... So, adios to (cpu) Genefer [I'll finish my gpu tasks]... I'll know better next time.
The lesson here, boys and girls - do your homework, check the forums and read the readme's!

Hey all - Has anyone else noticed that everybody in this challenge has identical 'Detailed Stats'!?
Odd, since some of those challenges are from 2008, and all the 'new user' accounts, along with myself, have not had the privilege of participating in that many!!!! :O
Some link or db is acting up.

Nice! Having some friends come in and bail someone out is great!!! Does not say much for the team(s) - neither the one begging, nor the ones defecting from theirs! This is new to me, very odd competition it is.
Regarding rats, are those all those 'new user' accounts that crept in the last day or two? Never seen that kind of activity!! :D
