Better. All you really need to disable is workunits in progress, since that's all that matters for the races.

I was just thinking that I could disable the workunit page instead of the results page, but you are probably right in that only workunits that are in progress need to be suppressed.

I'll look into it tomorrow.

This is needed for TdP only, where goal is to find primes. In other challenges credits matters more, so all optimization techniques useful for TdP will hurt your and your team's position in those challenges.

Official documentation for app_info is at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Anonymous_platform, however it is not very helpful for someone who wants to learn how to create this file from scratch.

I found that easier way to create it is to read that page first to get familiar with overall structure of app_info.xml file, and then copy appropriate parts from client_state.xml - that file uses the same tags to describe apps as app_info.xml. After doing this you will get working file for official app(s).

You can also configure app to run 1 copy per GPU in app_config.xml instead of restarting BOINC client.
14) Message boards : Problems and Help : PG server sends too much tasks when running as a backup project (Message 114245)
Posted 1455 days ago by Profile [B@P] DanielProject donor
At this time, I don't believe there's anything that can be done to correct that on the server side. The server doesn't support nor understand multithreading. That's why it's necessary to enable LLR multi-threading via app_config on the host side.

I would expect that some generic support would be there, as client sends <avg_ncpus>4.000000</avg_ncpus> to server in scheduler request.
BTW, Client also sends <max_ncpus>1.000000</max_ncpus> - maybe this confuses server?

Hi,
In order to increase my odds at current TdP, I have configured PG as a backup project. By doing do BOINC client would not build any work buffer at all. However it turned out that PG server does not take into account number of threads per task configured at client, and always sends as much tasks as number of free CPU cores. I have checked sched_request_www.primegrid.com.xml and looks that client sends information about thread count for app to server. Below is part of this file for PPS Mega app. Please take a look on this.

<app_version> <app_name>llrMEGA</app_name> <version_num>800</version_num> <platform>x86_64-pc-linux-gnu</platform> <avg_ncpus>4.000000</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>1.000000</max_ncpus> <flops>4323964981.302576</flops> <api_version>7.7.0</api_version> <cmdline>-t 4</cmdline> </app_version>

I have an old pc running 32-bit windows xp. It has an Intel Pentium E2180 (65nm technology, no SSE4 yet, but dual core). Should be fine for a "pure" windows32 test?

It's... better than testing under 64 bit Windows, but that's still a 64 bit CPU. It will execute 64 bit instructions. You *could* run a 64 bit operating system on it if you wanted to. However, testing under XP, in and of itself, is useful as it will show if the build has any incompatibilities with XP. Compiling code with modern compilers that will run on Win 10 as well as XP is getting harder and harder every year.

Until last year I had a true 32 bit computer running XP, but it died in 2017. It was very useful for testing that app builds truly had no instructions that wouldn't run on plain vanilla CPUs. No SSE2, no x64, nothing.

Have you tried IntelĀ® Software Development Emulator? It can emulate Intel Quark CPU, which has IA-32 architecture. It will complain if program will try to execute instruction not supported by specified CPU.

I solved OpenCL 100% CPU usage issue.

I will also crunch GFN16. :)

How do you fixed this? I have noticed that on my machines these tasks also uses 100% CPU.

This is just crazy! See how prices jumped up this month: https://pcpartpicker.com/trends/price/video-card/

I wonder if the same will happen for Titan V. When it was released, I checked that price per compute unit was similar to other top Nvidia cards.

Something does not work. I have clicked button "mark all posts as read" on main forum page, but I still see yellow page icons next to some subforums. Refreshing page did not help. However button did some work, all individual posts are marked as read.
