11) Message boards : News : Server software upgrade (Message 23975)
Posted 3806 days ago by Profile Heidi1Project donor
One thing I've noticed is that the News message board lists every single post (except for the ones for this particular topic) as a separate topic instead of grouping them together per topic (like it used to do and like the other message boards do). It's just a huge number of "pages" of topics when it should be more like 15 and each topic has a varied number of posts instead of all of them reading "1". Again, the other message boards are fine, it's just the News one that decided to go against the flow!

On a different note, but maybe associated with the upgrade, my BOINC client just all of a sudden quit crunching and quit running altogether. I have no clue how this happened, but I just happened to be looking at the icon when it vanished. It started right up again like nothing was wrong. Any thoughts? Vista SP2 running BOINC 6.4.7 with a bunch of GCW Sieve files.
12) Message boards : Number crunching : Update preferences (Message 21235)

I was just able to change my subproject preferences without any problems. The line under each subproject that has the estimated CPU time is still reading "disabled during challenge" or something like that, but you can still check and uncheck the subproject boxes like normal. That disabling text will get fixed eventually, but it does take a number of days for the webmaster or whomever to realize that it's reading that and fix it.

I don't think so. During a recent challenge, I ended up being one of the prime-finders, which made it on to the list (for my first time). They just used my name & the application name in the list; they didn't give me a chance to rename myself. Keep in mind that this list is viewed globally.

I could be wrong, since this has only happened to me once. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can clarify.

Welcome to the family!

My sticker:

DON'T HIT ME!
I'm an organist.
(You might need me to play for your funeral)

I absolutely couldn't pass that up!

Seems I got my first-ever prime, also! Received the email, but can't check it still on the site to know if I'm the finder or the winglady (I'm suspecting the first, but don't actually know yet). Woo-hoo!

Edit: Apparently, I'm the finder, as I'm listed in the Caldwell database. My prime is #4368. This is cool!

I'm waiting, too. I got some right at the beginning, but now some 45 minutes after the start, I can't get anything on two machines.
19) Message boards : Number crunching : The Dog Days of Summer Challenge (Message 17529)

The challenge has begun!

I'm getting an error message with my new WUs, and I don't know what to do about it. One Woodall WU downloads and starts crunching. The second WU downloads soon after with no problems. Then, while the computer is starting to crunch the second WU, the first one ends up resetting the computation, with this message: "Task llrWOO_36282041_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file." But, it resetted the clock on its crunching. I aborted it, thinking that I may have a bogus finish, and don't want to waste some 80 hours on this thing for nothing. Now my computer downloads another WU to replace the aborted one, and the second WU does the same thing when my computer starts work on the third one. I'm afraid if I abort the second one, this may become just a never-ending loop of zero status, aborted WUs.

Any advice?
