...We anticipate making this change sometime after the SGS challenge completes on Monday.

Monday? Or perhaps Tuesday?!?

@Michael Goetz: Thanks for your thorough answer!

Question: Any idea of expiration date for the other two remaining sieveing-apps?

Replacing CUDA in favour of OCL (or whatever name you may use for it) seems to be the trend anyway too. POEM e.g. does ist the same way. I find less an less pure CUDA-Tasks (with low CPU-usage) within the world of BOINC.

After all considerations, giving up a core for solving numerous other problems seems very reasonable.

@Prawdzik:On all of your 5 errant tasks you ran "Out Of Memory". Add to that the 10% difference in task times (probably shared CPU time with other apps on the longer running tasks) then it can be concluded, you may have worked the computer a little bit too much the last two days. ;)

Probably a litte less points in total than last year. Not everybody that participated last year, participated this year.

However, those who participated in both years have often scored 5-10% more in points this year compared to last year. Maybe slight advancement in computer speed in that one year.

And a freakishly tight finish for gold and bronze medal, less than half a precentige point difference from Pos.1 to Pos.2 and from Pos.3 to Pos.4.

Big news: it looks like we've found an ESP prime! More details after we verify it, the wingman reports in, etc.

(It's unlikely to have a false positive on Proth numbers, so I'm very confident this prime is real.)

(Possible) Great news! :d:

One question, do you inform the respective wingman to quickly crunch a certain task? E.g. probably many people, including me, have a bag of tasks that not all will run simultaneously, so without informing the wingman this task may come in many days later.

Damn you day light savingstime, missed the start bij half an hour! :( Lets hope it doesn't matter too much in the end :)

Day light savingstime? In winter? :o:

That's a new trick! You gotta get a patent on it! Lol! :D

Tasks less than last year, I reckon. Perhaps that "super-cruncher" using "the cloud" last year is the reason for it.

Personally, everything went well. Two factors in from my side. Computer ultrastable using all 8 nominal cores; i don't do that this often.

One technical question: I have a AMD-Bulldozer-Type computer of 8 nominal cores, which each core having an integer unit, but two cores each sharing a floating point unit. I made the experience, that this Sieve challenge used these 8 logic cores almost to the optimum, whereas at the latest SR5 LLR challenge it didn't make much difference weather using 8 or just 4 cores.

Now my question: Is LLR using more floating point units and sieving more integer units? Or is there another explanation for my experience?

My computer already protests vigorously! ;)
